What’s going on up there, anyway? This race is turning out to be a strange one, and not in a good way.
thanks, bfl
OK, let’s take this a step at a time.
This article is about the New York Conservative Party nomination for the congressional district. The Brooklynchapter of the Conservative Party wants Atanasio to be nominated despite (i) Brooklyn comprising only about 1/3 of the district’s population and (ii) the GOP nominee not having been decided yet? And the Staten Island chapter of the Conservative Party is countering not with a conservative Republican who could get the nomination for both the GOP and the Conservative Party (such as state Supreme Court Justice Joseph Maltese) but with a Democrat assembleyman?
Frankly, the Staten Island Conservatives are making the parochial Brooklyn Conserrvatives look like geniuses.
Perhaps DJ’s ideas of getting Guy Molinari to reclaim his old House seat (for no more than 3 terms) is our only way out of this mess. It’s amazing that it could come to this in a NYC district that gave President Bush 55% in 2004.
