If that's the price to pay for moving the state in a more conservative direction than so be it. Such a pay hike is more directly tied to the legislators than the governor anyway, and if voters are angry they can take their frustrations out on the legislators.

The local news media have been naming all those legislators that voted for the raise. It will be interesting to see if any get kicked out of office. For me, I think it was inevitable that they got a raise, and it is probably a small price to pay if we can actually get some good legislation passed.
