If they were alive today with the same positions they took in 1941 and 1962, FDR and JFK would be considered extreme rightwingers, not liberals. Liberalism has moved so far into leftism and decadence that its previous adherents wouldn’t recognize it.

the gloss a great # of FReepers put on JFK is one of the best demonstrations of leftist academia propaganda triumph that there could ever be. Actually, I think FDR was very weak concerning the Axis before Dec. 7, 1941, preferring not to rock the boat on his approval numbers.
And Khrushchev plainly stated that it was JFK’s weakness that enticed him to put missiles in Cuba to begin with.
Liberalism today is of a far more insidious and destructive variety than that of FDR. The type of liberalism that arose in the sixties is culturally Marxist. It’s based on the destruction of all the normal survival instincts in society, because ultimately it’s a death ideology. Thus the desire to feminize men and to steer women away from their role as wife & mother.
