I agree with this study. I've never been able to read 'the signs.'

If a girl asks you to kill a spider for her that means she really, really digs you.

I like Grace Jones' take in "Conan the Destroyer":
How do you get a man?
You grab him and take him!

When I was single and available, I never seemed to get "the signs".
However, when dating someone married, there were a good many times I got "the signs".

“Reading” women is like reading esperanto. Not worth the effort, and you’ll get it wrong anyway.

Flirting females baffle men, say researchers
The one thing this study does not seem even to consider is how much our current cultural BS affect this. For instance, back in a time when men were men and women were women, it was probably fairly easy for a young man to recognize when a female was interested in him. However, these days with all of the PC propaganda, and so many women being raised to act like men, it is probably far more difficult to pick out the subtle signs amid all of the gender-bending mannerisms that women have adopted. If you have grown up to think that women are just like men, while women are doing their damnedest to behave like men, it would not be completely unreasonable for you to gauge their behavior with the same interpretation that you would use for a man. The subtle fluttering of eyelashes doesn't work on you because you are not looking for feminine cues, but masculine cues. You are looking for the woman to do something obvious to show interest, like men do, rather than looking for subtleties.
