This is rather disturbing that Romney has so much support. I can understand voters supporting him, because they probably don’t know any better.
But other politicians?
Of course this goes to show that anyone can be bought if the price is right.
Mr. Deeth missed the announcement about Iowa State Rep. Gary Worthan endorsing Fred, which takes it to at least seven!
I do not particularly find fault with those who support Mitt Romney. There are two important goals in picking a primary candidate; they are equally important, and they are more important than any other:
As for condition #2, Mitt Romney might meet it or he might not. My personal feeling is that he probably does, but I can't say so with certainty. The uncertainty isn't enough to disqualify Mitt Romney in my book, but it does make me want for a better alternative.
If Fred Thompson is on the ballot when the Illinois primary rolls around, I will vote for him. If Thompson, Romney, or Huckabee wins the nomination, I will vote for him in the general election; I will be much happier in the general if Fred wins the nomination, but would support the others I mentioned in the general (if Hunter won the nomination somehow I'd happily vote for him in the general, but that's really unlikely to happen).
Mitt spread around a lot of money in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina in 2004 and 2006. And for most politicians, it doesn't take much money at all.
