When it comes to immigration policy, we can change the law. This "rule of law" argument is phony. There is nothing inherently wrong with immigration. We're talking about the appropriate public policy here. Rep. Flake advocates an immigration policy that is in alignment with economic forces such as supply and demand. America needs to satisfy its need for labor. Rep. Flake's guest worker program does that.
Opposition to a guest worker program is a form of protectionism. Protectionism doesn't work. If you don't believe me, just look at the past 30 years of immigration policy. It hasn't worked.
The reason the immigration policy in place right now hasn’t worked is because no one has made any effort to enforce it.
Also, many of these immigrants are not the hard-working, family-oriented types of legend, but gang members and career criminals. They have committed many violent crimes against native Americans. Las Vegas, Phoenix, and Albuquerque are in the midst of serious crime waves due to them. Also, they have caused many traffic accidents, as they can’t read the traffic signs.
While I acknowlege that Jeff Flake has done some good things, his stance on illegal immigration is something that can’t be overlooked. Russell Pearce, a decorated law enforcement officer wounded on duty a number of times, is the better candidate.
