A truly sad reflection on the current state of the Grand Ol' Party when many of the rank and file membership would willingly support a mountebank such as Rudolph Giulini to lead their Party, and this nation.

I certainly don't think Giuliani deserves a shot at the GOP nomination - he is an out-and-out social liberal and that will never change.
However, a Village Voice hit piece is not a believable analysis on FR.

BUT HE CAN WIN!!!!
YOU'RE JUST AN UNAPPEASABLE RUDY HATER!!!
Remember back during the harriet miers backlash when everyone who refused to accept that Aunt Harriet was a strict constructionist and would make a good supreme court justice? The fanclub was lashing out HARD those days.
But we held out - refusing to settle for a person just because they could get through the senate. In the end, we got a much better justice in Alito.
The rudy fan club should get the message -hold out for something better instead of settling for someone on the qualification that "they can win!"

I'll point out that the author of the piece was himself a witness for Giuliani's ex-wife and against Giuliani in a divorce proceeding.
That's hardly impartial journalism.
