Posting that symbol and telling gays and Rudy supporters to wear in on their sleeve is one of the most disgusting things I have seen written on this website.

It's like the Nazis forcing Jews to wear arm bands, isn't it!

Not funny at all! I don't even know any gays personally but if I did, I would treat them like I do anyone else. I don't want their lifestyle thrown at me either but they are people and your attempt at humor is sick humor.

You will never understand that Republicans don't all walk in lockstep so like others have said, you are probably in the wrong party.

I agree they have a right to the public square. Holding hands and kissing ... we jusy have to accexpt it as we do from anyone else.

What I do mind is their taking over areas to have liasions. I see this in Los Anglees. I live in Hollywood and there are areas that one simply cannot go. I won't get into specifics.

But, if they act like everyone esle, they should go anywhere all of us do.

Yes, they are among the unhappiest people anywhere.

But they can change. While there is life, there is hope.

First thought that went through my mind. Kind of describes the my way or no way crowd that everyone has to think alike or they start namecalling. This thread is a perfect example of that.

Actually, I wasn't even referring to that when I said "the public square"

I'm talking about them pushing their agenda on the rest of us politically and in our schools, media, etc.

I agree with you. I find it most insideous. And you'll find many Liberals agree it has gone too far.

I find it sadly humorous how many times already I've seen Giuliani supporters react to the rejection of their very leftwing candidate by trying to show mainstream conservatives the door.

It's a sad spectacle, and bad politics to boot.

I agree they have a right to the public square. Holding hands and kissing .

I'd rather not watch anybody - gay or straight :-) I'm old fashioned that way.

I think of the public square as being able to speak out on issues - to petition government - to run for office - and to be *in public* generally.

What I do mind is their taking over areas to have liasions. I see this in Los Anglees. I live in Hollywood and there are areas that one simply cannot go. I won't get into specifics.

I agree with you on that! Some gays (just like some straights) are really sick - and that kind of stuff ought not be allowed.

It's true. Even among the ranks of homosexuals, there are those who think the activists are way out of line. They hate being pushed into the light of day by the more shameless radicals.

To bring this back to Rudy.

This 2008 election is too important to allow to slip into the hands of the Democrats. Social issues are not my hot button and a fire and brimstone Republican will turn off the public as they usually do.

You are not a mainstream conservative and never have been. At least be honest about yourself instead of lying to yourself and others.

You are far right and every post you do like the one with the symbol proves it. We have been told to leave the Republican Party by your side and yet when we say you might be happier elsewhere since they walk in lockstep you get indignant and say we don't belong.
Read your own tagline! Unbelieveable!

Yes, and as someone mentioned - if they ever got power - that is the way they would try to rule - as dictators!

It's one of the reasons we lost on 06 - people became worried at the influence of the far right. It really showed itself with the Teri Schiavo case! I live in a pretty conservative state (Utah) but a lot of people were seriously concerned about that.

Some of the real extremists wanted to use force to free her. It just became sooo extreme. And that kind of fanaticism - that level of extremism that was pandered to - cost us dearly last November

Liberal parents want to protect their children and rightly so. So they are speaking up.

The original Log Cabin Republicans used to be fiscal conservatives who did not support special rights. Increasingly I see them taking all sorts of positions.

But I meet gay Conservatives all the time here in LA. They are not as rare as one thinks.

The radical right IMO is as unsavory as the radical left.

As long as Republicans act like Democrats, which Rudy Giuliani certainly does to the max, my tagline will be explicitly accurate.

As to the mainstream nature of my position? There's a reason that marriage protection amendments have passed in over half the states already...some of which are quite "blue" on the electoral map.

It's Rudy who is a fringer in the Republican Party, and the sooner folks like you realize it, the sooner we'll avoid disaster in 2008.

I've said this before. But I meet people who would otherwise vote GOP ... everything about them screams law and order, fiscal and personal reponsibility. But they can't get past the bible thumpers and the Falwells of the party. I would be happy if the party told them to walk.

I see the spectrum as a circle and the radical left and the radical right are right beside each other. They really have a lot of scary similarities. But bottom line - they both want to take our freedom and control and dominate us!

You're delusional. Republicans didn't lose because they were too conservative. They lost because they, like Rudy, call themselves conservatives but govern like Democrats.
