That has absolutely ZERO relevance in this discussion.
"I have been a registered Republican and have voted Republican in every election since 1972."
Until now?
"I am not willing to be sold into socialism just because it is by my own party and at a slower rate than the Democrats would do it."
So you prefer the whole country slides into Socialism quickly. That makes sense.
"If you think that these election losses will not initiate change in the party or that significant change would have occurred without them then you are dead wrong."
Here's the change they'll initiate...Republicans will become more liberal. That is, after all, what the majority of voters chose to put into office. Conservatives LOST this election. Why do you think that will result in a more conservative GOP?
" Savage is a fictitious character played by the counterfeit conservative Weiner."
We completely agree on that point.
LOL.
I put the winkie face on that thought to indicate that I decided not to do it. It really wasn't a very serious thought. I figure I should certainly wait if I were going to do it, let everybody breathe a little after Tuesday.
We will all be ok in the future.
The only thing to do is the right thing, every day of our lives. I just hope G.W. can stay 'sane' during the upcoming upheaval.
You read very superficially. Go back to Mother Goose.
"As Reagan once said of the Democratic Party; "it left me, I didn't leave it"."
My sentiments exactly. When the allegedly conservative "Republicans" start acting like conservatives again, I shall return. Otherwise, I'll vote for Libertarians.
They beat up on minorities all the time. Thomas and Rice leap to mind. And look what they did to Steele. It's like blacks calling themselves the "n" word. It is perfectly fine until a white guy tries it.
Oh man, you've got me beat by *years*.
But I have posted a whole lot of replies, since the count began. LOL
Yes, MadIvan and JohnHuang2 ( and don't forget about kattracks! ) are FR"s best and most stalwart thread posters.
But thank you for your service to your country.
Absolutely right! In battleground states, it will be GOP moderates who have a chance of winning election.
Maybe, in solid red states, like Mississippi, a conservative candidate can win election.
Missed on most on the folks here is one salient fact: the majority of voters are lean to the right moderates and vote for the most likable candidate!
You're dreaming. You ever hear the name Anita Hill?
That would be every Democrat on the judiciary committee (though they may have a woman on there).
You don't think they'll start to sweat by the time they get to Bush's second or third minority nominee? Let the rats blow out two nominees and then bring on Janice Rogers Brown. (I am gleefully wringing my hands at the very thought of it!)
They asked Americans to put em' in a proverbial box for the next couple years, and got just what they asked for.
I also probably have most people beat, on the number of posts I have made; however, not all of them prize winners by any stretch of the imagination. :-)
Yep. My own district is rock solid conservative. It is a beautiful...and increasingly rarer thing. But I've lived in enough parts of this country to know that the candidates who win in my district wouldn't have a prayer in most others. So I don't demand that happens. And I certainly don't pitch a temper tantrum when it doesn't.
This has plenty of relevance. I was a soldier in the field when the public turned against a mismanaged war. It too was under a Republican president - Nixon. That lack of support nearly got me killed. I don't want to see the party roll over again because it lost its message and was trying to appeal to a wider, more liberal base.
"I have been a registered Republican and have voted Republican in every election since 1972." Until now?
I voted Republican this time. I held my nose to do it. I refused to send more money to the party without an acknowledgment to make more conservative changes in policy. I just couldn't afford to send enough to make that leadership responsive.
"I am not willing to be sold into socialism just because it is by my own party and at a slower rate than the Democrats would do it." So you prefer the whole country slides into Socialism quickly. That makes sense.
The slowly boiling a frog approach wasn't getting us anywhere was it? Maybe this will wake up the party.

When the party has a conservative message it wins handily. When it pretends to be democrats it loses.
" Savage is a fictitious character played by the counterfeit conservative Weiner." We completely agree on that point
Amen!
Yeah. She was the scumbag who got caught lying just before Clarence Thomas was confirmed. What about her?
It would be nice.
They've pulled out all of the stops specifically *because* nominee are minorities. You think that's gonna change anytime soon?
Blame the correct people and stop preening and pretending that just because YOU served, you are entitled to post crap to FR!
