I never understood why Bingman coasts to re-election, without ever facing a serious challenge. He seems like the ultimate non-entity. I guess he must have good constituent services or something.

Part of it has to do with his wealthy wife, who almost single-handedly financed his first campaign.

NM just continues to reelect any politician who has been elected in the past. We only have one major paper in the whole state and there is very little criticism of our politicians in the newspapers, even when they deserve it. Bingaman, especially, who does very little and is a nonentity.

Domineci and Pearce, with a vengeance and in the past, Joe Skeen, were always around having meetings but Bingaman only comes around at reelection time.
