State Senator Jim Jordan (R) is mentioned as a possible successor, but he's also a potential running mate to gubenatorial candidate Ken Blackwell.

Barring extraordinary circumstances, this race isn't a cause for worry.By 2004 results, this seat has an 17 point Republican lean.

Both Senator Sarbanes and Congressman Oxley retiring in the same year. There is a poetic sense of justice about that :)

Hopefully we'll actually get a conservative in that seat.
Good riddance to Sarbanes-Oxley, would that we could be rid of your legislation!!!

Let's hope not. We didn't do so well in the 2nd District.
I'd be excited if Jim Jordan got the seat. He's one of the few real conservatives in Columbus.

Jordan is the only name really being talked about right now.
I would expect others to get into the race.
To: Columbus Dawg
Yeah, no way the Ohio GOP Rinos let a real conservative waltz into the seat. But Jordan's beaten them before and he can do it again. Hopefully the Republican voters in that district are smarter than the ones in mine.

Jim Jordan would be a strong favorite if he ran. But Ken Blackwell is said to be wooing him as a Lieutenant Governor candidate.

It would seem smarter for Blackwell to pick someone who isn't from a district that needs a new congressman. There have got to be other picks that would be better for conservatives and republicans.

Long after his retirement, his name will be associated with a major drag on our economy. I get chills when I see his name.

I have a big enough fight to support here in MI. First we have to get Jerry Zandstra the nomination to defeat Stabenow. However, SOX regulation is dumping billions of cash down a legislative hole.
