Mark Warner emphasized businesslike competence. During the past four gubernatorial elections, the victorious candidates -- Republican and Democrat alike -- seldom strayed from their messages.

Can anyone tell me about this proposed 47% increase in proffer tax? I have never heard of a "proffer tax" before.
I also want to ask Kilgore why he has not stated that he'll repeal the Warner tax hikes. (if I get that far! LOL)
By the way, did you hear Rush this afternoon commenting on Geo. Allen? Rush was ruminating on who might lead the GOP out from the doldrums it has found itself in and that the one guy out there who made him feel confident after hearing him speak was George Allen.
If it's Tuesday, the ads must be nastier...
Yeah, I heard Rush's comments.
Of course, I'm a little biased.
I don't watch that much TV, so I still have a tendency to only get angry at the Kaine ads. ;-)
But it's only going to get worse in the next few weeks.

I tend to have the TV on a lot for backgrund noise but generally when it is on it's tuned to FNC - so I have only seen a couple of Kilgore ads and I think have only been when hubby has had a ball game on or I'm at the Moose Lodge and they have a Norfolk station on :)
Living in the boonies has it's advantages - I have not seen a single Kaine ad :)

Heck, Newport News, Norfolk, Hampton Roads - that is what the satellite companies consider local for us. I get more info about Accomack county from Maryland TV and radio than I do from your area :) But I'm used to that - living in Delaware I relied on Salisbury, MD or Philadelphia TV for local news.
As I said, living in the boonies has it's advantages :) OTOH, it has its disadvantages, such as having your voice heard in the Capitol - but I had that same problem when I lived in a state capitol, so I'm used to that as well.
Non-partisan voter guides can be distributed inside churches as far as the IRS is concerned (See IRS.gov, and scroll through to “political campaign activity”). Of course, permission should be obtained from your church leadership. Non-partisan voter guides may be obtained from The Family Foundation Action and the Virginia Society for Human Life.

Give him the quantity of voter guides you need and they will mail them to you for distribution.VSHL: Go to the Virginia Society for Human Life website, www.vshl.org, click on “Pro-life Comparison of Statewide Candidates,” and print a copy. Reproduce and distribute as widely as possible.
The most effective method for distributing voter guides is to place them in church bulletins the Sunday before the election. Passing out at the door is next best followed by placing on a table in a church foyer.
The campaign has had no role in the production of the voter guides of these organizations. We did respond to surveys they sent to Jerry asking for his positions on a series of issues of interest to conservative voters. The distribution of the nonpartisan voter guide is an action you may undertake as an individual citizen.

Virginia's two leading candidates for governor campaigned in Fairfax County yesterday and said they plan to devote more resources and time to capturing the state's largest bloc of voters.
Democrat Timothy M. Kaine rallied a crowd of more than 200 students at George Mason University, while Republican Jerry W. Kilgore stood beside business leaders in Tysons Corner to highlight his endorsement last week by the political arm of the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce.

Kilgore vows to thwart illegals

Jerry W. Kilgore said yesterday that he would use state troopers to enforce laws against illegal aliens in Arlington County or any other locality that fails to do so, if he is elected governor.
"I'll have the state police in there if there's a big problem in Arlington," the Republican gubernatorial nominee said during a meeting yesterday with editors and reporters at The Washington Times.
Mr. Kilgore also said he would veto any tax increase passed by the Republican-controlled General Assembly.
"They know I'll veto that bill," he said. "That's why it won't come if I'm elected governor. There won't be a tax-increase bill that makes it through either house."
