Congressman Anthony Weiner will concede the Democrat nomination to Freddie Ferrer (who fell like 200 votes shy of the 40% he needed to avoid a run-off) at noon today. I think it's a smart move for Weiner, since he appears to be gracious (which is not the view most people have of him), and since if he beat Ferrer in the run-off it would be in a very divisive race that may cause Hispanics to turn against Weiner both in November's mayoral election and (more important to Weiner, who was probably thinking of 2009 all along) future races.
Ferrer will thus have the privilege to lose to Mayor Bloomberg in November. After his loss, I assume that he will continue to serve as Bronx borough president and hope that Congressman Serrano retires (which may take several decades).

Weiner is a lying sack, but he is still heads about Ferrer. Sadly, Bloomberg is the best NYC has to offer right now, and he's a joke.

File this under-who cares? They should call the general election here a SUPER Democratic run-off--or something like that. It would be more accurate.
