True. I just hope they run the letter from Marrs.
Wife and I plan to attend the event.
I think it will be very hard for them to NOT run the letter Marrs.
If I'd received the fundraising letter, I'd write a response of my own.
But I didn't get the letter. Which surprises me.
That is surprising...........
Yeah, EVERYONE ELSE is asking me for money. ;-)
And I got the flyer inviting me to the event. Heck, maybe I got the letter and it's buried on my desk at home.
LOL!!!!!!!!!!
I'm still under the radar................no one has asked me for money yet :)

Dear Sirs:
I am compelled to respond to Jeff Shapiros articles of July 29 and 30, which were extremely misleading.
On July 6, I mailed a letter asking for financial support for my re-election campaign. In this letter, I pointed out that my opponent, while not making her positions known on a host of important issues, was nonetheless relying on large contributions from liberal activists to fund her campaign. In my letter, I asked for help to remain competitive financially.
One passage in my letter pointed out that an advocate of homosexual marriage had given my opponent $10,000 a sizeable donation for a House race. This donation suggested that my opponents position on homosexual marriage was, at the very least, in doubt. Speaking to the letters addressees, who like me favor preserving traditional marriage, I again asked them to help me keep pace with fund raising for the fall campaign.
To read Jeff Shapiros accounts of this letter, you would have thought there was some nefarious plot at work here. But lets set the record straight:
- At no time did I attack my opponents donor, disparage him, or suggest that he should not be permitted to participate in the political process. I merely pointed out that, if those who would undermine traditional marriage were going to be active in my race, then those who support traditional marriage should likewise become active.
- I have not made, and will not make, any gay bashing remarks.
- I never said that gay bashing was an acceptable or standard manner of campaigning. I did say that asking people who agree with you on the issues for financial support is standard.
- Nor did I ever suggest that attacking homosexuals is just the way I do things. I only spoke those words while discussing my general practice of taking firm stands and making those stands known -- something I feel I owe my constituents. Mr. Shapiro chose to juxtapose my quote next to others charges against me, so as to suggest I was defending a dirty campaign tactic that I have neither used nor condoned.
Small wonder that virtually everyone Mr. Shapiro subsequently contacted denounced what he told them I had said. Heck, if I had done half of what he said, Id be upset with me, too.
I was particularly disappointed that your Editorial Page decided to pile on with your Just Asking note Sunday. Apparently without doing any research beyond reading Mr. Shapiros reports, you proceeded to chew me out for obnoxious views that I do not even hold.
In the midst of this mess, a few points should not go unnoticed.
First, it is apparent that gay rights activists intend to vilify anyone who opposes their homosexual marriage agenda. Those who support traditional family values will need to steel themselves for the campaign ahead especially if the media are not going to be objective in their coverage.
Secondly, my opponent was squarely asked her position on this issue but she refused to answer. She did criticize me, however. She is certainly entitled to take whatever position she chooses. I do hope that, in the coming months, she will be more candid with the voters, as I have been, so that the voters can make a fully informed choice.
Respectfully,
Brad Marrs
Fair enough. But, I'd like to see the actual letter.
Allen kicks off fundraising for '06 Senate race
By Christina Bellantoni
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
August 2, 2005
Sen. George Allen finds it hard to separate politics from football.
Ask Virginia's junior senator about his first campaign, and he quickly turns the conversation to what his father, Washington Redskins coach George Allen, told him when he won his first election in 1981.
"My father said, '... This is better than beating Dallas.' And when he said that, I knew that meant something to him, knowing how much he detested the Dallas Cowboys in those days," says Mr. Allen, 53.
He is quick to point out that Cowboys owner Jerry Jones "is a good friend" and former quarterback Roger Staubach "is a supporter, these days."
The Republican senator has been traveling the country raising funds for his re-election bid next year -- and quelling speculation about running for president in 2008. But football, either as a metaphor or the actual game, never strays far from his thoughts.

(Bad picture of Senator Allen where the barber got carried away)
What a crock of Hillary!
I know for a ~fact~ that you don't want to get in a trivia contest with George Allen. On any subject.
Dickie Cranwell is Howard-Dean-Lite.
I'd forgotten about that. I wonder if anyone has it around.
Forgive me, it was Militiaman_7 and ELMALO might.
Kilgore release includes e-mails
Messages mistakenly included in material sent to news media
by Jeffy Schapiro
An oops moment for Jerry W. Kilgore's gubernatorial campaign is providing a rare glimpse of its inner workings.
Well, at least this time Jeffy didn't have to wander around the Governor's office after hours looking on people's desks. And, yes, I know this for a fact.
Marrs donor 'disappointed' by letter
Trustee of gay-rights group calls delegate's missive 'beyond the pale'
by Jeffy Schapiro
A trustee of a gay-rights group spotlighted in Del. Bradley P. Marrs' disputed fund-raising letter -- who is also a donor to the Chesterfield County Republican -- yesterday criticized the letter as "beyond the pale."
Today the RTD has the full text of the Marrs' fundraising letter. But I haven't seen them publish his Letter to the Editor:
Fund-Raising Letter Questions Donations
Editor's note: This is the complete text of the letter in which Brad Marrs criticized certain donations to his opponent. A letter to the editor from Marrs appears at the bottom of this page.
Here's the "controversial" paragraph:
We don't know much yet about Mrs. Waddell's positions on other key issues; she has not been very forthcoming. But most recently, Mrs. Waddell accepted another big donation from a wealthy homosexual businessman active in the lobbying efforts of the homosexual advocacy group, Equality Virginia. That donation was for $10,000!
Flora is right. Nothing in this "goes to far." Nothing in this is not-factual. And noone, other than Katherine Waddell is named.
Received a nice letter from the Allen campaign after making an out of state contribution to his campaign right before the deadline. I will be making them quarterly now since he can use his Senate campaign funds to transfer to his Presidential campaign.
One of the best speakers I have ever heard and everyone that gets a chance should go hear him. Wouldn't want to get in a debate with him on any subject. Very impressed with your Junior Senator -- wish he was the senior senator! :)
Delegate Marrs' Letter of response is published directly above the Fund-Raising letter on the editorial page (A10).
You have got to see it! Both items take up at least half of the page!!!! Talk about blowback! I would be very surprised if the Marrs Campaign doesn't rake in a tidy amount in contributions as a result.
Mzzz Waddell, Jeffy and Potts just got hit by a Conservative IED (Informative Educational Device).
Good. It's not showing online though.
Good grief, they're stretching...........if they wanted to attack Marrs they should have attacked him on his "anti-choice" stance, considering 90% of his letter is about her pro-abortion stance.
sitting here shaking my head..............
