Dem - Heath Shuler, Rodney Peete(???),.......
And to top it off Shuler is a developer which may cost some votes, although he was a good college QB and that will gain some votes among Vols fans. I think he'd be a bigger threat near Knoxville though.
It is interesting that Heath backed Van Hilleary who was a very conservative Republican. I can understand the local politics and real estate ties, but if that was the case, why is he running in NC and not Knoxville(Or backing a TN GOP'er and not an NC pol)?
If he ran as a Democrat in the TN-2nd, he'd get smoked. That district hasn't elected a 'Rat in over 150+ years, it went seemlessly from being a Whig stronghold to GOP without batting an eyelash.
I've known about Aikman and Staubach, and it's a very good probability that Warner is a Republican, but where do you get your info on the other quarterbacks? Just curious.
You folks seem hung up on one facet of Heath Schuler. I, too, was apprehensive when I discovered a former football player was running against Taylor. However, after meeting him personally, and listening to him talk to a small gathering about the values I share, such as family, freedom of religion, taking care of our neighbors and PEOPLE, rather than multibillion dollar corporations, I began to thaw. After listening to him field our questions honestly and forthrightly, even if it wasn't always something we wanted to hear, I am convinced that he is our best chance to get that deadbeat Taylor out of office.
That man is using U.S. tax dollars to fund his trips to Russia to visit his business interests there, as well as feather the nests of many of his wealthy cronies. Check it out. He is probably the wealthiest Congressman in office right now. And to think, he was in trouble several years ago for neglecting to pay property taxes for a few years. Oh, and his bank, or should I say, the top executives of his bank, (the American one, not the Russian one), were convicted of some financial shennanigans. They say he gave them the go ahead, but of course, he pleads total innocence. It's high time we cleaned house, don't you think?
