Kilgore pressed on abortion
Democrats ask if he backs outlawing it; he dismisses question
by Jeffy Schapiro
Democrats yesterday pressed Jerry W. Kilgore to say whether he favors outlawing abortion, but the Republican nominee for governor remained silent, dismissing the question as speculative.

Sir - I direct you to the following quote from the Richmond Times Dispatch today. I don't think it could be any clearer Mr. Kilgore's position. Thanks for your email.
RTD:
Asked if Kilgore supports overturning the 1973 Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion, Martin replied that his candidate is "pro-life" and would allow abortion in cases of rape or incest or to protect the life of a woman.
"I would say that Jerry is for a culture of life," Martin said. "He has always been and always will be."

Subject: Kilgore/abortion
Sirs,
At the recent debate Mr. Kilgore had with Kaine it is being reported that the former shied away from answering a question on abortion.
That being, if there were a future SCOTUS ruling making it possible for states to enact more encompassing pro-life laws would Jerry Kilgore pursue this if he was our Governor?
I don't see what would be so difficult about giving a 'yes' or 'no' reply to this, do you?
Thank you,

My guess is that will be the answer, period.
I can see their strategery. Kaine wants to trap him into saying something they can label as radical or "dangerous."
Jerry isn't taking the bait.
Excellent pt.
My guess is they'll get all worked into a frenzy over it and Jerry will just remain calm.
That sounds like a very astute stategy.
Regarding the Nomination of Judge John Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court
RICHMOND Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Kate Obenshain Griffin issued the following statement today on the appointment of Judge John Roberts to the U.S. Supreme Court:
"President Bush has delivered on his promise to nominate a strict constructionist to the Supreme Court. Judge John Roberts has a distinguished reputation as a fair minded jurist who will interpret the law, not make it. The President has demonstrated an unprecedented level of consultation with Senators from both parties. The American people now deserve a dignified confirmation process characterized by fair treatment, a fair hearing and a fair vote."RPV email.
Bush has top billing at Kilgore fundraiser
Private event in McLean to clear $2 million toward Republican's governor bid
by Pamela Stallsmith
A private fundraiser tomorrow night headlining President Bush is slated to bring in $2 million for the gubernatorial campaign of Republican Jerry W. Kilgore.
NOTE: The location of the fundraiser is significant. Schar has a history of supporting RINOs (including Marshall Coleman).

Kilgore reply on abortion worries GOP
At debate, he refused to say if he'd sign a ban on the procedure
by Jeffy Schapiro
Jerry W. Kilgore, the Republican nominee for governor, yesterday appeared to risk alienating important allies -- abortion foes -- by refusing to say in a weekend debate whether he would sign legislation outlawing the procedure.
ohfercryinoutloud, I am 100% pro-life in all cases (and yes, my family has been very close to the health of the mother concern), but these people are drivin' me nuts.
The Kaine/Schapiro campaign is trying to make an issue out of this and these folks are playing right into their hands. If the Family Foundation, Black and Lingamfelter don't know where Jerry Kilgore stands, they aren't paying attention.
We lost in 1989 pretty much based on this issue alone. I'd just recommend decaf all around.
Keep in mind, that's Jeff Schapiro's opinion. Not exactly a mainstay in conservative circles, as you well know. :-) Very interesting observation on your part about the Bush fundraiser location. I've never heard of the fellow, so wouldn't have known that history. Thanks.
They've done more than just drive me nuts - they have so totally turned me off, that the issue no longer appears on my radar at all.
I understand that this is a Schapiro article. But he knew exactly where to go to get the quotes he wanted.
My point is that it's darn well time those people knew better.
"Highlighting Allen's competitiveness at fundraising was an analysis issued this week by the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics. It showed Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., leading congressional colleagues in industry fundraising between January and March, and Allen ranking second."
Not a bad position to be in, especially when you consider all of Hillary's lemmings.
Well, if we have a chief supporter of RINO's hosting a $2M fundraiser for Kilgore, I'd say stick a fork in Kaine and Potts -- they're done!!!

Kaine speaks; Kilgore receives backing

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Timothy M. Kaine touted his pro-business credentials yesterday while Republican Jerry W. Kilgore picked up the support of a major small-business organization.
Ummm...Timmy...you talked about your small business credentials with Capital One?
