"Fiction: Obama was given an 'African' name. Fact: Obama is a Muslim who has concealed his religion. I am a strong supporter of the Muslim community, and I believe Muslims have been scapegoated. Obama has a great opportunity to be forthright. Instead, he has treated his Muslim heritage as a dark secret. His grandfather was named 'Hussein.' That is an Arabic-Muslim, not African, name. Hussein was a devout Muslim and named his son, Barack Senior, 'Baraka.' Baraka is an Arabic word meaning 'blessed.' Baraka comes out of the Koran and Arabic, not Africa.
Welcome to FR. Please don't start a thread with short statemens of opinion (otherwise known as "vanity" threads) - instead, please find a relevant thread already underway and post your comments there. Thanks.
Welcome to FR! :-)
Please don't mind the anti-Keyes folks around here. There is a small but vocal minority who hates him.
May I ask what you like specifically about Keyes?
I admit I'm a little surprised you've heard about him in Australia.
That is a lie. And the author of that lie is a nutcase. You should be more careful of your sources.
I've always considered Alan a friend of liberty.
Anybody who supports the draft is not a friend of liberty.
I've seen him quoted as saying many silly things during this campaign. Apparently meant to shock, instead they cause people to dismiss him.
It's sad.
Really? then why does he call himself a Christian today? When he was raised a Muslim? Perhaps to get votes?
It was only ONE source of many by the way. Many other sources in Google just happen to ALL be pof Obama himself telling the public what his name means.
Hmmm, who should I trust?
Why shouldn't he? He professes to be a Christian and is a member of a mainline Protestant church.
When he was raised a Muslim?
Another falsehood. Obama was not raised a Muslim. He was never a Muslim. His paternal grandfather was a convert to Islam. Obama's father was an agnostic. Obama's mother and maternal grandparents were Christian.
Hmmm, who should I trust?
How about those who can actually present evidence, rather than unfounded smears and baseless allegations?
In 2000 he accuse Bush of being a coke addict.
This is not Alan's fault. Its the state GOP's fault they are letting Louie Farrahkhan Jr. go to the senate.
That's false. Since all citizens in a republic comprise the government in a sense through their ability to vote, it is fundamentally unjust that only a portion of the population serve in defense of the country, particularly when the poor are overrepresented.
I think you need to read through the entire thread that was produced based on this guys comments.
I see you have an Arabic looking letter on your background information. Is it? Mind explaining what it says? Is the Israeli flag just a smokescreen?
As has been pointed out to you on previous threads, the military is volunteer. Might as well complain that men are overrepresented in construction jobs.
Let me try a rewrite on your statement, and see if you would agree with it:
it is fundamentally unjust that only a portion of the population of the country pays income taxes, particularly when the wealthy few are forced to pay the overwhelming majority of the tab.
You can continue to believe this guy is on the up and up.
I will continue to believe he has "plans for America" and I don't trust him.
Are you Israeli?
I think that any cursory look at this Andy Martin's writings reveals him to be a complete nutcase.
I probably know as much or more about Obama as anyone else on FR. Why? Because I've taken the time to research the allegations made about him. Those who engage in false witness and smear tactics more typical of Michael Moore and the loony left are an embarrassment to FR and to the Republican Party. Obama is a left-wing Democrat. There is more than enough there to take him on on the issues. There is no need to make up and disseminate lies about him.
Is the Israeli flag just a smokescreen?
Do you see closet Muslims around every corner?
I see you have an Arabic looking letter on your background information. Is it? Mind explaining what it says?
Sure, no problem. It is an image of a mezuzah scroll, which contains, in Hebrew, the text of Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Deuteronomy 11:13-21. Jews affix the mezuzah on their doorposts in obedience to the commandment of the Torah: "And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates." (Deuteronomy 6:9)
I am a native-born American citizen and a Jew. I reside in Wisconsin.
I will continue to believe he has "plans for America" and I don't trust him.
I don't trust him either. He is a liberal Democrat, and his ideas are bad for the country. But he isn't a closet Muslim.
I am always amazed by your spite towards Alan Keyes.
In Israel, amongst political leaders such as Netanyahu, Sharon and the members of the Knesset, he is loved and respected above all other American politicians.
No one has been a better friend to Israel than Ambassador Keyes.
That's the funniest thing I've read since getting taken to the side of an airport security line because of the writing in my Tanakh.
BTW, quoting Andy Martin on anything is like quoting Pat Buchanan on the Holocaust. It's a dumb idea. Keyes supporters would have been better advised to concentrate on the issues.
Listened to the debate and/or read the transcript yet, sport?
I haven't mentioned Keyes once on this thread.
No one has been a better friend to Israel than Ambassador Keyes.
I appreciate Keyes's support of Israel.
That doesn't, however, diminish my disappointment with his performance in the senate race.
Obama was in Wisconsin this past Sunday, stumping for Russ Feingold. If one of Keyes's objectives was to keep Obama instate rather than travelling the country campaigning and raising money for other Democrats, then he has not been successful.
