This isn't 9/12/2001. Did you see most of the college students on the cable news shows? With the exception of a few, I'd say that they are all living off their parents and don't have a care in the world. The doors are open at the enlistment centers. Does it mean that we have to be hit again as we were on 9/11/01 before they get the message. I had to sign up for the draft right out of HS in 1972 and I did. The lottery was still in effect then. That year 11 friends all drew low numbers but not one of them was called up. I had a high number and the draft was stopped a year later. I think its easier to enlist people when your not in a war.

There are a pack of VN draft-dodgers in Nelson, BC trying to erect a monument. We told them to "take-off". I'm ex-military, and served with many Americans. My father is American. AI, I salute you - for doing your duty. I don't know what is wrong with the youth now. I suspect it's because they never had to fight for their right to sit in front of a TV or have a home to go to. I wear around my neck a medal my grandfather got for coming home in one piece from WW1. He was American. But he served in the British Army - they got involved years earlier. I don't think anyone, the Lord knows that donut inhaling Michael Moore doesn't - even understand what it would mean to stand up and fight for something you truly believe in, and never waver.

George W Bush is a man that isn't afraid to make a decision and stick by it. We are at war, but no one seems to remember this fact. And I'm so ashamed of my country's (ha) leadership, I can't tell you.

Personally, I don't have a problem with the draft. I can't see a problem with giving back to your country after it gives you so much. I served for years.
