Can someone please tell me Toomey's record on abortion? I was told by someone who works for Santorum, who was moved to Spector's race, that Toomey really isn't pro-life, that he used to be pro-choice. Can someone let me know where I can find information on his record? Thanks.

The primary is April. I believe Toomey is pro-life now. I think he had a religious conversion a few years back, and that is when he changed his position, which I think is great. Unlike Spector, who only votes pro-life around election time. Spector is running an ad now claiming that Toomey waffles on aborion, which is a lie. He might be referring to the time before the conversion. There's another ad complaining that Toomey is a business man who only move to PA to start a business. ?? This from a senator who only became a Republican because the Dems wouldn't support his run for senator so many years ago!! What a hypocrite!

I agree with all that you said. I hope Toomey has the funds to get the truth out.

Spector called Rush Limbaugh's show and had an on air conversation with Rush; I hope Toomey does the same. In fact, I think I will e-mail Toomey's website e-mail and suggest this.

Can you tell me the exact date of the primaries?

EXCERPT from National Review: "The Worst Republican Senator: Why Pennsylvania should get rid of Arlen Specter"

By John Miller, NATIONAL REVIEW

Friday, August 15, 2003

ILL go straight to the point, said Arlen Specter, shortly after sitting down to dinner with Paul Weyrich of the Free Congress Foundation in March. Ive got a primary and Im being hit from the right. I want your support.

The Republican senator from Pennsylvania wasnt going to get it merely by breaking bread. Says Weyrich: I told him I was disgusted with how he comes around just before his elections and asks for conservative endorsements, when we all know he wont give us the time of day later on. In years past, Weyrich has traveled to Specters home turf and urged conservatives to stick with one of the GOPs most liberal members. Im not sure what Im going to do this time.

Weyrichs complaint is a common one: Specter votes like a Democrat until late in his term, when he remembers that he will need at least some conservatives on his side if hes going to win another six years. Arlen is not a team player, but were getting a little more cooperation out of him this year, says one GOP senator. In 2001, for instance, Specter was in his usual form, helping slash the Bush administrations tax cuts by $250 billion. This year, however, he embraced the presidents tax-relief proposals early on. Theres more reason for an economic stimulus now, he says. Skeptics think its not the economy hes trying to jump-start as much as it is his Republican basewhich hell need in next Aprils primary.

Please know where your candidates stand on the life issue when you vote. One way to do that is by visiting www.wevoteprolife.org.

They have not yet included candidates for the U.S. senate race, so allow me to tell you what www.PAProlife .org reports:

Pat Toomey--Pro-Life
Pat Toomey supports the protection of human life. He has a
100% pro-life record in the 108th Congress and opposed the use
of taxpayer dollars for abortion. He supports a ban on all
human cloning.

Arlen Specter--Pro-Abortion
Supports abortion on demand and the use of taxpayer dollars for
abortion. He is a national leader and sponsor of a bill to clone
human embryos to be destroyed for scientific experimentation.

Pat Toomey is supported by the Pennsylvania Pro-Life Federation and the National Right to Life. There was a time when he was pro-choice but after he had his two children became pro-life. Pat Toomey does have the exceptions for the life of the mother and rape, which the Catholic Church rightly opposes, but he is obviously far more pro-life than Arlen Specter.

It is expected that one or two U.S. Supreme Court justices might soon retire, and since Arlen Specter is chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee, he could be in a position in hurting the nomination of a pro-life judge.

This is an important race! Please pray that you vote wisely.
