Check into the book on LBJ that was made from his tapes. He secured a letter of agreement from the Houston Comical that they would not criticize his administration in exchange for allowing a bank merger to go through.
If this is true, why in the hell am I just now hearing it? Please cite which book and who gave this information. Dan Patrick of KSEV will be most interested in getting it. He and many of us are on a rampage about the Houston Chronicle. Either we'll bring them to their knees with the cancellation of subscriptions, or they will be discredited by their relentless biased reporting through other news outlets.

See post #9 in this thread. Someday we may need to start up a website (like the one that tracks Metrorail accidents) to track instances of documented Houston Chronicle bias (the rail memo that got posted to their website a couple years ago also would be ripe).
