Daniel Webster is an honorable public servant. His principled conservatism makes him popular among the activists, but he's also highly-regarded by many people who don't agree with his ideology. Most of his 'Rat colleagues like him personally, and even among liberal groups, he has a reputation for fairness. In fact, Johnny Byrd's supporters claim that Webster is too nice to win. He's my sentimental favorite, but sentiment doesn't win elections. He has one big problem, the way the Titanic had a problem with an iceberg: he has virtually no name recognition and his fundraising is lackluster. Maybe he should set his sights lower, like Orange County Commission Chairman (which Mel Martinez once held).

Yah, your right.
How about this guy run for the House at some point in a R district? maybe run for Senate later.
I say give Rove what he wants on this one. Mel Martenez will raise the money and get out the Cubans. Both good things.
