About 2 months ago, there was a new group formed in the county. They called themselves "Voters Voice".
"Voter's Voice" says that county voters are 'disenfranchised' and called the parties captives of 'extremist' views. One of their key platforms is being pro-abort.
Two of Howell's city council members, Sue Dolato(I don't know her political party) and Steve Manor are on that committee. On that committee of nine are one republican, two unknowns, and SIX democrats(through running for office, or donations). The main leader of this group is Jim Swonk who ran against Valde Garcia. I like Jim Swonk personally since he's a nice guy, but we don't agree on much.
Mr. Manor is one of the democrats. I checked the opensecrets sight and the secretary of state sight. He donated $25 to a dem candidate named Bill Keith who ran for state rep in 2000. That combined with being on Mr Swonk's committee is enough proof to me that he is a democrat.
Democrat's do not win here in Livingston County for the most part. Our county is 62% GOP and we hold all of the county offices and all but one or two of the township supervisor positions. Dems who want to win here run as republicans or run in non partisan races.
But the only way to keep the party of Bill Klinton, John Conyers, and Ted Kennedy out of power here is to stay vigilant. Today's city councilman is tomorrow's state rep. If Joe Smith is a popular city councilman, he could WIN for state rep. "He's not a normal dem. He's Joe Smith". Smith then will talk conservative while voting for Speaker Pelosi.
