As soon as you "fall back on faith", you are ceasing the inquiry, closing your mind, and allowing ignorance to prevail. The results of "faith" are abundant throughout history, and it's never been good.

Absolutely incorrect. I am a physics- and computers major, a graduate with a double Baccaulaurette, and have started my MBA. I seek knowledge constantly, and have a very open mind about scientific and factual realms. I've travelled to other countries for months at a time to try to understand foreign cultures. I speak three languages and want to master three more.

And I also strongly believe in G-d, the L-rd of the Universe.

At the same time, the number of lives "saved" by basic improvements in agriculture and health care far outnumber those lost in all the wars combined. Science works, every time, and has always worked, since the Greeks first discovered it two thousand years ago.

Yes, it has saved lives. But what about the after life?

When you calm your personal insecurities by telling yourself lies about "The Heavenly Father" watching out for you, you are doing nothing but endangering yourself and those around you.

Oh, you poor, poor man. I hope G-d reveals Himself to you someday.

You would be happier if you had the solidarity of reason behind you.

I have reason behind me. I'm happy. Except, of course, for the tiny monkeys in tiny airplanes. They annoy me.

Don't you know it's impolite to ask that question? Just look for the tag that says, "Made in Israel".......

You mean mhking isn't out to hurt me?

Amazing. Our liberal friend addressed NOT ONE of my points (if you can't refute them, ignore them), changes the subject repeatedly, accuses me of being fearful and a racist and then runs away.

Sadly typical.

Great. You absolutly must define the word "kosher" for me. I have a very good friend that eats only kosher and I have no idea exactly what that entails so I never know where we can both eat so that we can each enjoy a good meal.

Hah! And a clothing optional holiday is the perfect day to look for that tag!

I'm wondering if the guy realizes that there are black conservatives, as well as hispanic, asian, etc. There are also conservatives that are pagan, atheist, agnostic etc. We really are a diverse group. All of us aren't rich white Christian guys, like some would like to believe.

OK, I'll jump in.

Briefly, I'd say that liberalism* tends to try to remake people and institutions to fit an pre-defined supposed "ideal", where as conservatism tends to let individuals determine their own circumstance.

*Assuming the word liberal to have the connotations in current political parlance and usage, and not the more traditional definition, which seems to be almost the opposite.

Happy Labor Day FreeRepublicLogInName........

My 2 cents: I think you will find a few people in the "far left" and a few in the "far right"....but most people fall in between...... we are what I tend to think of as real - we can see both sides, and maybe even cross over on a few topics - but basically we are the majority, just not as loud and/or obnoxious as the ones on either end of the spectrum.........
