my SIL did one for each of my kids when they were born and also for their first communions. my dining room walls are adorned with the First Communion ones, the kids will have to sue me to get custody of them when they leave home. i love them. my niece is going to graduate HS next spring, so i know this is my chance to pony up something in that regard. i will have to start from now!

I would have done them when my niece and nephews were born, but their mother doesn't have a sentimental bone in her body, and I didn't see going to the effort only to have them stored in a closet.

xs can ONLY be done for those that appreciate it. i fully agree. my SIL and i do xs christmas ornaments for each other each Christmas and bday. she is the one that taught me to xs. i look forward to my bday gift from her more than any other person!

I turned a cross stitch pattern I had of the outline of the state of Delaware into a crochet pattern. The first one I did as a table runner and it fetched several hundred dollars ata silent auction for the Heart Association several years ago.

The cross stitch pattern I used countless times as a gift for people I worked with, but instead of stitching "Delaware" underneath it as the original called for - I personalized them with last names.

I am currently power crocheting a baby afghan to the point of getting callouses since a friend who is not due for over a month is on bedrest and threatening to go early. I told her I find that very inconsiderate of her.

my Lithuanian grandma taught me to crochet but i haven't tried that in probably 30 years! it is very soothing and your eyes don't have to be as good. i may need to go back to that in a few years!

All of my xs supplies are in plastic bins in storage - I've done hardly any in the pat year, for obvious reasons!!!

The small projects I have recently done have all been from kits.

the stuff you did for work friends sounds very cool. well you will have time this winter etc. once you have the house the way you guys want it, to break the xs stuff out.i am behind on my ornament for my SIL, her bday was the day after mine and i didn't have it done in time! still working on that.
