So, Senator McCain, the ditzy chicks can enjoy their freedom of expression by slamming our president at a time of war but average Americans can't?
Thank God this idiot lost to a bettr man in 2000.

I thought everyone knew by now that McCain was one of the most stupid individuals ever to graduate from the Naval Academy.
The question is not whether McCain has read the first amendment; rather, the question should be, "Can McCain read?"

It says a lot about the man when he's characterized with hardcore socialists like Boxer and Dorgan.

"Thank God this idiot lost to a bettr man in 2000."
And an 'amen' to that.
Funny these people just cannot get it; the Dixie Chicks said precisely what they wanted to say; and they are still speaking last I heard. . .
McCain is scary; like maybe during one of his surgeries, someone planted a Leftist chip in his brain. . .
That is as reasonable explanation as any I can think of to explain this ex-military 'republican'. . .

Rodney Daingerfield must have been a soothsayer and anticipating Natale Maines when he made the comment,
"the last time I saw a mouth like that it had a hook in it!".
About McCain, It is better to remain silent and people think you a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

The last time I saw a mouth like Natalie's, it had a president in it.

The question is not whether McCain has read the first amendment; rather, the question should be, "Can McCain read?" The answer is that McCain values his opinion, more than the Constitution.

The Dixie Chicks came through Dallas last week, and all the reviews were about their brave stand for free speech and all the TV reports were about how the concert hall was filled with people still supporting them (big surprise: who else would show up? It's like being surprised to find a big crowd of idiots at a Democratic convention). But it doesn't cut any ice with me. I'm a former fan who'll never support them again.
Bad enough they badmouthed the commander-in-chief on foreign soil on the eve of war, but even if I were willing to forgive that, they've since shown their true colors by dropping the weepy contrition act and twisting this incident into an unforgivably shameless marketing ploy. At a time when real patriots are risking their lives for this country, they've been posing as martyrs because other people dared to criticize their moronic comments, dedicating songs to Michael Moore in concert, popping up in Congress to attack radio stations for daring to exercise their own free speech rights, and of course, wrapping themselves in the flag and the Constitution (when they're not posing naked on the cover of Entertainment Weekly.) I used to think maybe they were just naive liberals who shot their mouths off and were sorry, but all they are is self-serving, opportunistic hypocrites. To hell with them.

Well, maybe Boxer has the right credentials to know what the Nazis are up to these days. Still, you really have to question if she has the comprehension to understand that virtually all country-music fans now think the Dixie Chicks are traitors and should be executed for treason, not applauded for music.

If I remember right, McCain's ass was saved from recall by 9-11 You are correct. The people running the McCain recall effort decided to put it on hold out of decency and concern that just after 9/11 wasn't the best time to do it.

No kidding. Haven't had respect for McCain in ages. He doesn't deserve my respect.

Excellent comments! Its not surprising to hear socialist, Hollywood elitist types excoriating the public for disagreeing with their comments and/or acts. They even to go as far as to claim their First Amendment rights have been infringed, simply because the buying public no longer wishes to hear their socialist rants or buy their products.
Thats to be expected, as their understanding of the Constitution is clearly limited and by far outweighed by their anti-American sentiments.
But to hear a Senior Senator, and Republican to boot! espousing the same was entirely unexpected. Then, again, were talking about John McCain, as big a sore loser as Al Gore ever was.

I'll admit...I was fooled.
I actually attended one of his 2000 campaign rallies here in San Diego.
He's a loser.

I listened to part of the hearing and gave up. I figured he either wanted to date one of the chicks or he was angling for free tickets and a back stage pass to one of their concerts.

" Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., likened Dixie Chicks boycotters to Nazi book burners and communist dictators who strip out all the works of art that they dont agree with."
When you burn a book it is gone forever. When you strip out works of art, they are gone forever. When you don't play a rather poorly done song by the dickless chicks, you save airspace for something much better.
