Gran...just got online after being off for a day or so..saw your pics of your granddaughter...shes a knockout, just like her Gran, I am sure....and your house is just lovely..
Loved, the pics of the lighthouse...I especially love lighthouses...in fact we had a little Christmas tree in the back bathroom this past Christmas, festooned with nothing but Lighthouse ornaments, boats and ships, and fishing equptment....But each and every lighthouse is so different and unique from all the others...when we go up and down RTe 101 and RT 1 along the Pacific, we always stop to look at all the lighthouses...
Westy and MO...thanks for all the links to the Motorhome websites...Me and the hubby are looking around, itching to buy, so we will be ready when Dom retires...
Mo...we are going to do what you describe after your kids are grown...of course, I am older than you, so for us, retirement comes really soon now, in 22 months....each day when the hubby starts out for work, he leaves by saying, just 22 months more to go...he will be glad, when its down to 1 month, and knows the end is really in sight...
We plan to just live in the RV, travel all around, and just come home to our house, every so often...But we did spend our whole married life with the boys, camping in a tent when on vacation, and we just loved it, as did the boys...we still have our tent, and all of our camping equipment, tho havent used it in some time...hate to throw that stuff out, or even give it away, as I am just a pack rat anyway, ,but all that camping stuff, just brings back lots and lots of memories...
But becoming gypsies, and living life on the road, has been our dream for a few years now, and we are close to realizing it...sounds like a grand way to spent our retirement years...

Westy, you sure were a little cutie....
As for RVs...BigDom and I were just talking about the RV we rented to go down to California in last year...it was a 27', and we both agree it was just a tad too small...so when we go down to California, next year, we are going to rent a bigger one, maybe 34', and see how we like that, and how it handles, and all that...then we should have a better idea of what we might want...
But I have seen some RVs on the road, that are just huge, and I would not want one of those...they are too big, and I bet hard to handle, ,and really hard on gas mileage...
Before we leap into buying a brand new RV, we are going to check out used RVs...being that we are so near to Ft Lewis, there are always folks who are going overseas, and need to sell their RVs, and frankly there are lots of retirees, who either become too ill, or just die, and either they or their family just needs to sell the RV, for nursing homes, or medical treatments or such...we sure hope that Ft. Lewis presents some opportunities for us...

Everyone has their own requirements..A 27ft would be way to large for me and the places I would want to go. As far as I'm concerned two people can live for an extended period in a 21 ft, but even it was to large for the places I liked. Couldn't get it up to places like San Javier in Baja..It would bottom out trying to get across the arroyos..
But you have decided a 27ft is to small, so you will have to go larger.... Have you looked at Safari Treks??? They have a double bed that raises up against the ceiling during the day and lowers at night for sleeping....

I have been skimming all the links to RV sites, and need to go into them further....and Dom and I will be hitting the RV lots and just go looking at all what there is out there...there really is a big selection of sizes, and amentities....something for everyone...

There are big RV shows every year...One in the Tacoma Dome, One at the Fair Grounds at Puyallup and another in Seattle. They are a good way to see a lot of RVs at one location....Of course they only show new ones, but it can still give you ideas as to what is out there....

Yes, thats another thing we are going to do...go to some of the big RV shows....at least then we can get a feel for all the different sizes, and see what is offered...
I can hardly wait, till the time comes for us to hit the road...Dom is also anxious to get going...tired to death of working all the time...he wants to sightsee, drink beer, fish, paint, enjoy all the local color, of wherever we are, and not have to think about the crummy post office anymore...

Mike likes to site see and go road triping and I like the comforts of home .. So we figure that an RV would be a win win for both of us .. he can cruise and I'll relax in the back and read a few books maybe
