A proper buffer zone is big enough so the don't just drop in, but close enough so that when they do come they don't feel compelled to stay for an extended time...

Well, I was glad to have the buffer zone when I did, because in the end, I had mom come live with us for three years, after dad died...and she was in her last three years of Alzheimers...
And she did become very violent, and destructive, for a while...thankfully for us, it lasted only a couple of months, and then it stopped...

My mom does pretty good, as long as her routine isn't messed up to much.
If it gets messed up, she can get frustrated very easily ... she has this thing about money .. when she can't find her money, she will get all worked up and it's hard to calm her down ... so what we will do when she isn't paying attention, we will slip some money into her purse and when she finds it, she feels much better and is back to her old self

Oh, it is time to go to bed. We worked very hard in the yard today. (rhyming unintentional) The yard is a disaster. The previous owners did NOTHING to keep it up, so we have a lot of work to do. We hacked out a lot of the overgrown vegetation today in preparation for rototilling and planting next weekend. It already looks better!
