Yes, I would say it is synonymous with typical. One must remember that FReeper men are conservative or libertarian. Inherent in both ideologies is that duty, honor, and responsibility are among the foundations of human happiness and well-being. They are things to be embraced, not shunned.

Unfortunately, the typical man is not a FReeper, not a conservative or a libertarian, and was indoctrinated in government schools to believe that duty, honor, and responsibility are evils to be avoided at all cost, and that only evil fascists believe in such values. From such a point of view, it is good to engage in promiscuous sex with woman, and leave them or harangue them into having abortions when the consequences of sex are realized. What I am saying, is that those FReeper men who take exception with her description of the typical man should realize that they are not typical.

Having a child young seems to be a real help for many women and men as far as making them responsible adults...Lord knows I have had a child and still act like one, but my friends who'd had kids grew up real fast and are or will become civil leaders.

"I have to say that is really, really disgusting, amusing but disgusting all rolled into one ball of wax...but back to the point....How does one have an aboriton that does not take???? It seems to me that when you have an abortion it seems it has to "take".

"

Maybe it was one of those old-fashioned abortion attempts, where the 20-something jumps up and down a lot of times.

"My friend is involved in the Church and pro-life activities. Her children were brought up pro-life. So how is it her daughter had an abortion??? How is it her daughter got pregnant in the first place? "

I imagine she got pregnant in the usual way. If you'd like more information, there are books in the library that you can borrow that explain the process.

The young woman had an abortion, but thank God it didn't take

What does THAT mean?

Yes what does that mean? How could a fetus survive all the bleeding and suction? The lining of the uterus would be gone and there is continued bleeding for days after. I thought they also check before they wheel the patient to recovery.

OK. You have stated your opinion about the relationship of the 2 terms. Now please, define 'a lot'.

Absurd is the word. I find parts of your note offensive.
Perhaps you plucked this article from a forty year old newspaper? It maybe that you wrote this while in a bad temper and didn't think it through all the way? Perhaps this is an emotional response?

I reject the following statement whole heartedly, it's totaly feminist cow droppings: . Typical man, want's the fun involved in making a baby but doesn't want the responsiblity of the results of having sex.
FACT: More women support the ability for women to kill unborn children than men do. Nuff said about that

This part shows near total ignorance:"Letting your 20 something year old daughter travel across the country to visit a boyfriend is absurd. " Twenty year old people don't ask for permision, if you are lucky they ask for advice. To make any attempt to deny her permision would effectively terminate your relationship to the young woman, ensure the death of the unborn child and all but buy the ticket for the trip.

Letting your 20 something year old daughter travel across the country to visit a boyfriend is absurd. You can bet that about 90% of overnight visits by young adults involves sex.

If there's cross-country travel involved and I'm only batting .900 I'm going to get myself a new girlfriend.

Seriously, I have 3 daughters of my own and I'm sure I have no hope of controlling their behavior past 18/19. As for showing them the door, this person obviously has no children or they would realize the silliness of such an idea. There's not much my children could do to cause me to estrange myself from them long term. Dating, or sleeping over a boy friend's house at age 20 or 21 doesn't even come close.

P.S. My wife of 11 yrs. And I got Married at 22.

Dating itself is not the problem, the expectations of what dating has become might be though. As a 20-something male I can speak to this. Too many minds out there say "It's dinner, something fun and then sex.", and that's not just the idea in mens minds either. Often it is the male who is made out to be the sexual predator, but more and more I am getting to the end of *dates* and finding the women pushing it. Anyone else seeing this trend? The thought is, as I have been told, if I don't get him in bed the first night he's not going to be/stay interested. I understand that reasoning towards many in my generation, but it just doesn't work for me. The social norm appears to be that *dates* don't finish anywhere but in the bedroom anymore. How sad.

On the other hand, it does create a pretty good screening process. If you are that willing to get THAT intimate after just a few hours you're hisotry in my mind.

I really need to introduce you to my ex-wife - she's had two since our divorce a little over three years ago. A quote from her: "I didn't want the trouble of raising another kid."

Typical man, eh. Sounds like someone has issues.

In my house it was when I graduated High School (since I was already 18 when I graduated). I thought it was harsh at the time, but I thank my Dad now.

I think the poster is implying that women don't have the mental capacity to make their own decisions.
