Oh bosh ... it makes him quite an emotionally powerful speaker, not an orator, but it;s clear he speaks from the well-trained heart. No oratory can best that.

Prez Bush needed this press conference to see if he could take the veil off the reporters, whose minds are so blinded that they think that the New York Times is middle of the road! Come on, you people! Pray for him!

To have the President himself reiterate the facts, (instead of Powell again - ad nauseum) and to get in front of the condemnation of the axis of weasels when we say screw off to the UN next week, if the weasels stand in our way. I think Americans like to hear the deal directly from the President at a time like this.
Hasn't he gotten much smoother at this press conference thing? I am noticing that tonight.

He's had plenty of time to huddle,
IMHO, he oughta just take a quick snap and toss The Bomb.

The point for me was to see just how far left the press was going to push with their questions. So far as expected they seem to be trying to rub the "peace nuts" in the presidents face. I love how wonderfully the president weaves away from the hate in the way the questions are asked and stands tall for us that see the light.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T...THEY NEVER WILL!!!!! Doesn't hurt to try. If you've been sitting their all day waiting for a surprise announcement at a Presidential Press Conference, then you have probably been disappointed many times before. About the last real surprise in a Presidential statement or press conference was LBJ's announcement that he wasn't going to run again.
To: ChicagoRepublican
Well, in effect he has said:
(1) We won't attack until after this new resolution is voted on.
(2) We will attack if Saddam has not disarmed by that point.
(3) N. Korea is not (just) our problem. It is China, and S. Korea, and Japan, especially Japan, and Russia's problem also, and we are going to let them deal with it.

"I don't think that Freepers need this assurance, but some do. "
I concur. If he he didn't give this press conference he would be criticized so might as well give it. Freepers are not the audience........same dull questions through all of this. This would be a tough one to give for any individual and I think he is doing a good job.
He uses a lot of "I" rather than "we" in his presentation....... unusual because we haven't heard this is a long time. A sign of true leadership........he is taking full responsibility for his decisions.....Makes me think of Ike on D-Day.....Anyone remember what the president said prior to D-Day?
To: ChicagoRepublican
If you already knew what he was going to say then why did you allow your time to be wasted? Sounds like you aren't very bright.

Can't people wait for President Bush to finish before they complain?Certainly not. There are those who go about their day with a proleptic sense of betrayal, and they see no reason not to get a jump on the gripefest.

He seems lost.......depressed. I don't understand the point either. It has not made me feel better about our situation! What is going on?!

teleprompter
his answers are halting and obviously being read
as for the press calling him on it why would they? it is has been a long standing policy of this administration to only answer preprepared questions I do not have a problem with this in fact I applaud the fact the he recoginzes his weakness
sorry if it offends you but pretending he is answering off the cuff is silly I have been avid political junkie for MANY years and he is reading his answers

He hasn't answered them. He has not said anything we haven't hear for 10 months!

This press conference is hurting him. I am his biggest fan, and I am now worried about our position for the first time! I am losing confidence with every question!

Just accept the fact that no one is good at everything. A lot of what you are seeing is that he is not comfortable in front of the camera.
