Nasa E-mails prove that Nasa knew - and I told you so - anyone care to apologize?

I feel sad for you, and your small little world where your kicks come from attacking people and insulting them because you don't like their profession.

I feel more sorry for you, whose feelings got so 'hurt' in a discussion about the shuttle, that you think the whole forum needs to stop and soothe you. Get a grip.

"NASA culture of killing the careers of Engineers/Employeed who raise "RED FLAGS" is what killed those 7 heroes. They
are victims of corporate culture and fanboy head-in-the-sand personalities."

I'll agree to that......

"Look up my thread history here. I have already posted that my old posting name was "Bot-a-Bing"."

Jack? Jack Thompson, is that you?

First, I find it interesting that a law degree qualifies you in aerospace engineering. You could become the new Paul Pike (he has no degrees either but is a big talking head).

Secondly--I may not be remembering correctly--there were no EVA suits on Columbia (no space suits) so EVA to check condition was not feasible.

My Master's is in Aerospace engineering and I will tell you that there simply was no way to repair the tiles in orbit. Period.

The shuttles are 22 years old, most of them. These are old machines. We now have evidence (from 40% of the fleet) that they have a service lifetime less than 30 missions (in all probability). They should have been replaced a decade ago.

I have personally revised my position on manned spaceflight--due to Columbia. I now believe that there is no reason to send humans into space unless there is a task that a robot cannot do. I can think of only two: returning to the Moon or going to Mars. Notice that I do not mention the Station.

We are not going to the Moon or Mars in my lifetime, nor in yours...I'd wager.

And there SHOULD have been a tele-operated spherical gas tank with cold-gas thrusters and cameras so that the entire vehicle could be inspected from inside. Probably cost $10 million, chicken feed compared to $1.5-$2 billion to replace the shuttle (it won't be replaced).
