Cj gave xsteen the idea last year and she did it with marble tiles stained with a variety of 10 diff substances. and then tried 3 diff toothpastes, postulating that the most expensive would be the most effective. the teacher screwed her over bc she was sick that day and did not tell her what she needed to do to go forward to the diocesan and regional competitions. xshub had a chat with the teacher who admitted her error and said xsteen could do the same project with additional work done on it and she guaranteed it would go forward. fine, xsteen did that, and at cj's suggestion did other toothpastes and whitestrip.

well yesterday at the sci fair set up, xsteen sees that a 7th grader, who obviously came last year and got the idea from her project, had done the exact same thing.

i fault the teacher, who has veto power over the projects, for allowing someone to do the same thing, when she KNEW from last year that xsteen was going to continue the project. the judges have no way to know the history. this teacher needs an assbeating.

as a judge, I certainly would have had a discussion with the teacher about why I was looking at two of the same thing. However, you are right - the teach is the root of the prob.
