I remember when Red Dawn was released. All of the liberals went apoplectic over it.

That movie showed me the error of gun registration lists.

I think I've got you all beat....

Two real cult classic, anti-establishment flicks:

1) THX-1138
2) Woodstock

Blazing Saddles. Boyfriend & I with another couple went to see this. I whined that I hated cowboy movies, other guy said shutup, I'd like it. He was right. Still like it. Have it on Beta, VHS, and soon, on DVD. There are so many lines in this movie that you could NEVER say today. Mel Brooks is a genius!

The Ghost and the Darkness. The animals are ruthless killers, and the humans are the good guys. Plus it's also a true story.

Forgot that one too! Iron Eagle was quite a lovely military flick. Maybe the 80's were a golden age of film.

"Smoke Signals" -- deconstructing the image of Native Americans in film

"L.A. Confidential" -- demonstrating that sometimes, it was a good thing when cops did whatever they had to in order to bust the bad guys

"Red Dawn" -- guns kill, bad guys.

"Independence Day" -- Yeah America! Yeah Military!

What'd he say?
He says the sheriff is near!

Yeah, in my book, Blazing Saddles wins hands down.
Monty Python's The Holy Grail is a good one too.
Disclosure ruffled some feathers, but it's hard to sit through two hours of Demi Moore.

"Leg 'er down 'n smack 'em yak 'em"

(I have no idea what that means, but it is jive dialog from the movie.)

History of the World - Part I.

Anything by Mel Brooks, really, but that one is a must for the list.

"Judas! Would you like a beverage?" BWAHAHAHAHAAA!

Your mother is a hamster and you smell of elderberries!

I blow my nose at you!

Sheesh, I can't remember anything for my exams at school and yet can recall every line of these silly movies. lol

I suppose I should get my Phd in useless trivia, but then again there are too many liberals in feminist studies.

Unbreakable. Some might find it a bit long, but there's a gun safety message, a lesson on the value of family and the security a father provides, a message on the opportunity cost of law enforcement, a clear look at how a criminal's *victims* suffer -- uncomplicated by needless analysis of the criminal -- and a disabled man who gets ahead in the world without feeling that the world owes him something. (Well, he does, but he goes about finding that something all by himself.) Oh, and the 2 main characters are African-American and Caucasian, but there's absolutely no race-baiting throughout the movie.

The Holy Grail also has the added feature of poking fun at the French - something every movie should do.

Ever see The 20 Dates? That's a good French-bashing movie.
