What does their offering a reward have to do with not trusting the police. The crime has not been solved. If someone tried to break in your daughter's window after having your niece disappear wouldn't you consider a reward to get to the bottom of it?
Sorry, it was Boylan herself who said Tom told her to stay away.
I agree Uncle Tom shouldn't have been trying to save embarrasment to the SLCPD like this, if they didn't want her he should have made them call her themselves.
The cops would be setting themselves up for a rather hefty lawsuit if Ed could prove they stopped working on the case because they don't like what he is doing.
Huh? Do you think they're working this case now? If so what do you think they're doing?
And they would put the family and the community at risk and cover up what they know, potentially allowing Liz to die to cover up a mistake someone in the lower ranks made?
I don't know anything about who they might be trying to protect, I'm just fairly certain they know who the accomplice is. Why they are withholding the identity, I have no idea.
Ricci induces his own stroke
How about this scenario. Ricci cuts a deal with Feds not to tell whatever they don't want known. An FBI medical team is assembled at the hospital and Ricci is brought in and supposedly operated on. The story is circulated Ricci had hypertension and wasn't taking his medication (maybe that he refused to). Several days later all the world sees pictures of him there comatose and he is released to Angela's cognizance. They fly to South America and live happily ever after. Just something to think about.
What if theDon were right and it involves the government of Saudi Arabia?
I don't know for sure but let's say they do have information about who made the call that day. It doesn't mean that they would release that information. It is not a crime to make a phone call. If they identified the caller and he denied any connection to Ricci then they have nothing. They could watch this person, question him, but with no evidence directly tying him to the crime they could do nothing. The fact that Ed is offering a reward for information leading to this person is an indication that they don't know who it is yet. There is one other possibility. Maybe Ricks friend was pretending to make a call. I know this sounds wild but he would look a little less conspicuous to someone walking in and out of the store if he were on the phone. Just a thought.
Hard to believe they wouldn't be able to establish a connection between he and Ricci. The grand jury surely could have called him in. Although maybe they did, I think back to the day Romero and some other ex-con walked to the Grand Jury some weeks after the others testified, wonder if that guy has a blue van.
The fact that Ed is offering a reward for information leading to this person is an indication that they don't know who it is yet.
The fact that Ed is offering a reward for information leading to this person is an indication that they haven't told Ed who it is if they know. Ed says there's a lot they 'can't' tell him.
Anything that could be prejudicial to a potential jury would usually be kept from the family. They wouldnt want them blabbing that to the press. Also, LE wouldn't want the family to go out on their own to question some potential accomplice. There are very good reasons why the authorities keep information to themselves in any case. They have given some information to Ed and Lois but I think there is still a lot that they are unaware of.
Puhleeze! I'm sure there are young girls much easier to kidnap than Liz Smart (if it was a kidnapping).
Any trace DNA found could be explained away by a good lawyer because of the previous owners.
Actually, Iwo Jima, it's more of a Florida term. It evolved to describe the cowboys of the 19th Century who drove cattle to market across the scrub wilderness of Central and South Florida, "cracking" their whips as they rode. Many of these folks (including some of my own) migrated to Florida from Georgia (Wiregrass, here), and became part of the Florida culture.
As you may know, Florida provided most of the food, meat, vegetables, sugar, salt, etc. to the Confederacy during the War Between the States, and the cattle drives were very important. Many of them are still re-enacted in S. Central Florida nowadays.
Wonder if that's because LE doesn't want Ed to know that they know what HE already knows?
My guess, no direct evidence against him.
I'm truly sorry, for many reasons.
I agree.
