my father, who is responsible for my lousy upbringing by the way, he and my mad mother, has a special recipe...I make my own marinade and I did use beef this time but usually I use venison round steak...

The "seemingly pointless post" you mention was in context with other freeper posts regarding various church policies and stands.

I think you have a divide and conquer mentality.

It's a mystery to me. They claim to all be conservative. Believe me I haven't a clue what tweaked them.

It is not the Smarts fault that the networks keep interviewing them. Your ire should be directed towards the people at the networks and the cable shows who keep calling Ed and Lois Smart for interviews. Like I said in my previous post, if the cable shows keep calling, I'd keep Elizabeth's name in front of the cameras. Perhaps a good idea for Ed to do is say next time "I'd like to bring on another family who lost a daughter seven years ago" and then have the Davis family there, who lost a daughter, Kiplyn. Show her picture during the interview, etc.

Boredom in Utah

After reading the article "LDS Request: Pleasant Grove May Put End to Monday Fun" (Tribune, March 29), I had to write. The mayor and City Council members of Pleasant Grove need to stop and think about the changes being considered.

This is just what Utah needs, another day with nothing to do but sit at home. Utah as a whole and Utah County especially already have a very high level of depression. Remember a news item several weeks ago stated that Utah had the highest Prozac usage in the country. The main use of Prozac is to fight depression. Much of this depression can be linked to the lack of affordable activities to do in Utah.

Utah also has one of the highest suicide rates, especially by teen-agers, in the nation. Part of the teen suicide, as stated by several doctors of psychiatry, is the social pressures placed on them.

I agree that this is part of the problem. If this is the only cause then why is the problem not nationwide? I think that much of the depression and suicide in Utah is related to the lack of interesting and affordable activities for persons of all ages. The LDS Church has prevented or is attempting to prevent anything fun to do. Do not let Pleasant Grove city officials bow again to the LDS Church and force more nothing to do but be bored. Boredom is a large cause of depression, and pushing up the use of Prozac and similar drugs even higher.

I am keeping track...van dams won't talk to O"Reilly because he questioned their behavior that night, and the Smarts are still mad apparently at Mark K because according to Ed, Mark was trying to go behind the backs of the cops....

I can see where if you are in the news business...you can't afford to be too critical of anyone because then you don't get interviews...

so Maybe the wishy-washy..mamby-pamby Larry KIng has it right...just don't ask any embarressing questions.....lol
