There is a HUGE demand for blond hair blue eyes young girls here - mostly via the asian market.

While we don't know what has happened to Elizabeth and anything is possible I would like to point out that she does not have blue eyes. I'm not sure if that would lessen her value in this type of market or not, just an observation.

I am wrong here. I looked at her pictures at her website and most of them show what appears to be brown eyes but there was on where they looked blue. I went over to the description of Elizabeth and it indicates that her eyes are blue. Please accept my apologies Bella.

It certainly makes one wonder anew about the alleged kidnapping as opposed to runaway.

Contact lens come in all colors nowadays and are easily switched from day to day.

That's very true. Here's another thought. Does anyone know Elizabeth's birthday? Marriage is allowed at age 15 in Utah.

We know that there are many, many people who are suspicious of the circumstances, explanations, etc. I believe several of our fellow FReepers would keel over if they realized the actual number of people who have opinions contrary to conventional wisdom (Ricci did it).

What's to stop the accomplice from taking action against MK or the boys?

Does anyone think that it is possible that the accomplice is under surveillance and they are seeing if he will make a move. I know that it sounds like Hollywood but the statement in the article that she was LE's "star witness" makes me wonder if they are not trying to draw him out. I really don't think this is the case but that is what crossed my mind when I first read it.

I've wondered if the vague references to something being taken from the house was in reference to some sort of medication she may have been taking. If this is true it would have contributed to the family’s feeling that she was still alive. Why would her abductor allow her to go to the bathroom to get her medication if he was planning on killing her.

I don't think there is any way that LE would use MK as bait......especially not in a school setting where other children would be at risk. As I recall, LE issued a statement not too long ago saying that they did not foresee filing charges unless/until Elizabeth was found. My suspicion is that they are putting together a case which would render MK's testimony as an eyewitness unnecessary.

As far as the number of Utah bankruptcies go, there are several reasons for the large number. We were just talking about this at work the other day. Utahns tend to have their own businesses, and the economy has tanked in the past year. I am astounded at the number of For Lease signs I see as I drive around Provo. And a lot of families put everything they have into those businesses for the first few years, with very little savings. And I think the economy was perceived as being so good for so many years that a lot of people didn't save as they should have, and bought homes that were more than they could afford if times got rough. When I bought my home, the lenders were willing to give me a whole lot more money than what I had decided I could afford. Plus, credit cards are always a temptation, and easy money until the bills come due. I don't know why the article threw in the 10% tithe statement. I've found that when I pay an full and honest tithe, my finances seem to go better.

I agree with this. I really don't feel that they would use MK as bait. But it is what crossed my mind when I read the article. If they are watching a suspected accomplice they would never let him get anywhere near any of the Smart Children.

Did we just read the same article? Lois Smart is going to drive her children back and forth to school each day, the administrators and teachers are being told to watch out for the Smart kids to make sure that teasing or whatever doesn't go too far, and the police are increasing their patrols around schools, and going to schools earlier to talk about safety, and "No one is worried about the kids' safety"? And pray tell, what would you do?
