Actually, Colin McEnroe is an ultra-liberal P.J. O'Rourke wannabe who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room at all times and wants you to know this. He grates with his arrogance and snotty attitude toward anyone who dares to hold a different point of view but especially annoying are his endless attempts to be witty. We all know this type. Constant put-downs about everything and everyone, especially anyone less educated than Colin and never the least bit funny to anyone but McEnroe. Bruce Stevens is a former D.J. and announcer who is cynical and caustic and always sounds bored to death. A bore himself but it seems as if he hasn't realized this yet.

WTIC - the station that dropped Dr. Laura for some lame 'news' show with the cranky Bruce Stevens will probably keep these idiots on the air just for spite but thank goodness CT listeners will have another, less liberal, choice now.

I wrote to WTIC last year when Sean Hannity's show was going nationwide, requesting they put Hannity in WTIC's 3-6PM slot in favor of Bruce & Colin. I pointed out that besides their obvious liberal bias, B&C offered nothing to the local flavor of the Hartford area and that their commentary was a complete waste of a 50,000-watt radio station. Nothing but giggling and ever-present guest Bill Curry. Here is WTIC's response to me:

3-7pm is the 2nd most listened to time of day (next to the AM show). Many listeners depend on the show for information such as news, weather, traffic...with a syndicated show during that time we would not be able to air these very important, and wanted, elements.

What a lame response. Listeners "depend on" the Brucie & Colin show. We get plenty of local news, weather and traffic with WTIC's other syndicated shows, Rush Limbaugh's being a perfect example.

How wonderful that we now have so many choices in that 3-6PM time slot! I would've liked to see Hannity get more than an hour on WDRC though. If the weather is just right, I can sometimes tune into his flagship station in NYC, WABC 770AM.

Another choice for 3-7PM is Howie Carr on WHYN 560AM (Springfield, MA).

I got the same response from WTIC regarding putting Hannity on as well. The fact is with national syndicated shows such as Imus and Howard Stern, the local stations have their regular local updates and news bits at their regular times. I would think the morning drive time is at least as critical a time for listeners as the evening commute.

They are just totally provincial and worthless... I'm amazed a radio station as powerful as WTIC has kept this duo going. AND... now WTIC has has extended Boring Brucie's airtime by "rewarding him" (?) with his own show in the 9AM-12N slot, where Dr. Laura used to be. All in the name of "keeping the local flavor". LOL

I've always thought morning drive-time is the premier time to have a radio show, but what do I know. I don't even know who is #1 in the Hartford, CT area in morning drive-time. Brad Davis on AM? Gary Craig on FM? I'm always trying to tune into WABC for Curtis & Kuby!
