Hey Corin, how did the last performances go?

Our Cantata was yesterday, two performances... went very well... many folks said they were touched... my solos went well (so I'm told)... I just can't get used to bein' told I have a beautiful voice... cuz I don't think so... The choir director wants me to do a duet with her this Sunday... Oh Holy Night... I love that song... never dreamed of actually performing it...

Hope it went well for you bro...

G'nad the singing dwarf! How wonderful to have a nice voice for singing! You and Jen can sing for the band at Entmoot.

I sing in public too, when I am drunk at Karaoke bars...

Good Morning everyone. I thought I would post an announcement/request for comments about an idea for my Daily Tolkien articles. This is also posted on my latest Daily, but I thought I would also post here for comments:

I have decided that twice a week (Monday and Friday perhaps?) the Daily Tolkien will be an article written by a "Tolkien Virgin" (Mark-Edmond) who as he reads/has read the books about Middle Earth for the first time gives a short article with his thoughts and commentary about what he has read to that point. He has read so far, The Silmarillion, The Hobbit and has almost finished The Lord Of The Rings.

His pace is approximately 1 or 2 chapters per article and if you would like to reread the books (or even read for the first time if you are also a Tolkien Virgin) to coincide with the posting of his articles (like I said, two articles per week), you will end up finishing The Return Of The King next year almost the exact week the final movie is released.

These running commentary threads could be great for discussions on the various chapters and could be a great place for people to ask questions about anything they are curious about that the articles might make them think about.

What days would you recommend for the "Tolkien Virgin" articles? I was thinking Mondays and Fridays. "Bookends" as it were. :-) Gives you the weekend to read the chapter or two being discussed on Monday, and the rest of the week for the chapter or two discussed on Friday. A leisurely yet structured pace that should be easy to work into schedules.

Your thoughts?

BTW, I tried using the Movie Cash that came with the DVD. They said they wouldn't accept it until the day of 12/18.

That's strange, I didn't have any problem at all. I even used 2 at the same time, both mine and my brother's.

The rumors of our storm were greatly exaggerated.

The winds around here are supposed to pick up this afternoon.

Should I worry about weakened trees falling?

That doesn't count... everyone sings when they're drunk...;o)

I have only done karaoke once, but my rendition of Rocky Racoon was well received...

Same ol' same ol'. Office roomie was grumbling about the cost of re-registering his truck. We live in a socialist HELL.

But the sun is shining (for a little while) and the air is crisp. Not bad for a Monday!

How are things in your neck of the woods? BTW, where are you stationed?

Quantico... not a bad week ahead... still tryin' to slay a beast, but it shouldn't be a bad day... I can see the gulls and swans on the Chopawampsic, and an Osprey (the bird) flew past my window about 5 minutes ago... I like Quantico much better than the hell of the Five-Sided Insane Asylum...

The articles sound good.... sometime after the movie hype settles down we may actually start up another reading thread of our own again, for Two Towers, where we all read it together, if folk are still interested. Did you participate in it when we did FoTR?

I can't tell which days might be good, I would hold off for the next week or even two, we are gonna be flooded with TTT viewings reports reviews and discussion, and there won't even be time to read all of that, I would predict.
