Sounds to me like he won decisively.

The Democrats didn’t compete in Tennessee; they poured millions this election into one seat. We need to work our asses off to prevent the Republicans losing either chamber as Americans traditionally hedge their bets against the party in the White House, but this is only good news: the Democrats went all in financially while broke, and got nothing in return.

Impeaching the president will mean nothing. And this election is good news for keeping the House. The last time there was an open seat, this seat was actually highly competitive, and they added a lot of liberal neighborhoods from Nashville since then. That the district voted so heavily for Trump and the incumbent last cycle is meaningless, since the Dems scarcely mounted an effort in the presidential or congressional races in Tennessee.

Sounds to me like he won decisively.

The 9% win was comfortable, but in a heavily red district, with Republicans having a 10% registered voter advantage, he lost 1% (probably due to Republican voter apathy and not showing up). The party in power usually loses votes so I guess it is not too surprising, but Trump won district 7 by 22%, likely due to Independents siding with Republicans. In the 2026 midterms many Republican held seats are not in as solidly red districts so I hope this is a subtle nudge for the RNC to get off their butts and develop battle plans.

And that is a very good thing.

From the media reports, you’d a thought it was a squeaker and
Trump lost:

Typical headline:

“GOP and Trump cling to victory in ‘too close’ Tennessee special election after Democrats fightback”

Yes, it wasn’t the 22 points Trump won by in the POTUS election, but it was 11 points, which is not “very or too close” - and this is an off-year.

Still, Republicans should not ever let their guard down, even in solid red districts - Democrats are not above vote fraud, “redistricting” or anything else they can get away with to steal elections, anywhere, any time.

“If Republicans have pathetic turnout like this in the midterms the Rat party will easily win enough to impeach Trump.”

Trump needs to watch some tapes of his 2024 rallies to figure out what MAGA is as he’s lost his way, at least in some areas, particularly like Ukraine. For example, I don’t remember Trump saying: “...and I’m going to drag-out Biden’s War in Ukraine for another 4 years!!!”

Hopefully with the jettisoning of Kellogg, he’s figuring that out, but Rubio is still there, trying to undercut him whenever possible...while putting on a big smile and acting like he actually MAGA.

It’s always better to win, however narrow; but Republicans — from Trump on down — need to go into full campaign mode and run scared up to the midterms. As for Trump, foreign policy and angry Truth Social outbursts won’t do the job.

The American People are celebrating with him!

The mentally ill are not celebrating. They're grovelling in hate, evil, dysfunction, and delusion--cursing the darkness that blinds them--still hoping that satan and the Party of Hate and Evil, the party of the ku klux klan, infanticide, open borders, slavery, and the Trail of Tears, will prevent the American People from Making America Great Again, restoring the USA to ascendance, and saving Western Civilization from destruction!

Pray for them.

Pray for their enlightenment.

And thank God--yet again!--for shedding His Grace on America!

We have so very much to be thankful for!

Well historically the special ELE films and the off year elections tend to have lower turn out but that’s in both parties not just the GOP. I expect the MAGA voters will turn out for 2026 though.

From another thread:

Mark Green

2018 % vote 66.9% margin 34.8 points

2020 % vote 69.9% margin 42.6

2022 % vote 60.0% margin 21.9

2024 % vote 59.5% margin 21.5

Matt van Epps

2025 % vote 53.9% margin 9

I think that the state and national Republican Parties do a poor job at getting out the vote and competing for independent "Swing" voters.

A win by nine points in a midterm election small district is a big winner to me. Media is spreading lies.
