I have not been able to find any contemporary source for the motivation of this article to consider lawyers among “other non-human entities as well”. However, here are a few sources from history:

The King James Bible in Luke 11:52 says, “Woe unto you lawyers! Ye have taken away the key of knowledge: ye entered not in yourselves, and them that were entering you hindered”.

Shakespeare in Henry VI, Part II says, “The first thing we do, let’s kill all the lawyers”.

William Shirer in his work titled The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich says Heinrich Himler was forbidden to recruit from the army for his Einsatzgruppen, which were the organizations that followed the German army into Poland and Russia to murder the Jews. His number one source of officers became lawyers.

What does AI have to say

1). about pardons issued with fraudulent signatures

2). Naturalized citizens offering fradulent documentation? ie: married to your sister

It does seem that much of what they do can be achieved at a kiosk similar to the ones at McDonalds.

OK. Jobs that are rules-based or formulaic are likely candidates for AI automation. Lawyers? Why not? “Everybody’s got to put somethin’ in the kitty. Right?”

Even Victor on Breaking Bad could supposedly cook meth. Of course he didn’t get far with that bravado. :-)
“Everything comes down to following a recipe. Simple, complicated, it doesn’t matter. The steps never change...”

So what about policemen, juries, judges? Robocop.

What about politicians? I mean, come on, how much AI power would it take to replace Tim Walz or Ilhan Omar?

I’m a lawyer, I have tried my best to have AI replace me, but damn, it sucks. So I am stuck being a lawyer.

I would get another job, but the other jobs have actually been successfully replaced by AI.

What do you call a bus full of lawyers going over a cliff with one seat empty?

An engineer dies and accidentally gets sent to hell.

He realizes the place sucks and instantly sets about making it better. He designs a/c systems, better housing, the works.

One day God calls up the Devil to rub it in how bad the conditions are in hell. The Devil tells God that things have never been better in Hell. They have this great engineer who is in charge of operations and he is hitting it out of the park.

God instantly knows a mistake was made and demands the engineer be sent to heaven immediately. The devil refuses. God threatens to sue the devil.

The devil says in reply: “oh yah, where are you going to find a lawyer in heaven?”

My sons do computer coding and supposedly AI is going to replace them. They say, no way. They give AI very specific instructions and use it to move through fairly routine issues. They charge a huge hourly rate but now complete the work more quickly than others who must rely on AI instead of a knowledge base to go with it. The bottom line is that the client pays the same and gets a better product.
