It’s probably something the insurance companies don’t want you to know.

If you were born between 1935 and 1975, it's essential that you know this!

Basically, the headline is the summary. It's up to you to click or not.

Here's the FULL ARTICLE:

Las Vegas Lied to Us — And We Paid the Price

Las Vegas isn’t what it used to be… and we’ve learned that the hard way. We thought we understood how Vegas works — how to spot the tricks, avoid the traps, and still love the chaos. But after years of living in Las Vegas, something shifted. And we couldn’t ignore it anymore. Things that used to feel exciting… now feel off. And one day, we looked around and realized the biggest lie Las Vegas still gets away with — and how easy it is to fall for it.

Yes, Las Vegas. The name alone conjures neon lights, slot machines, and promises of endless excitement. But behind the glittering façade lies a truth that will shock you… or maybe not.

For years, we’ve been told that Las Vegas is the city that never sleeps, the place where dreams are made and fortunes are won. But what if I told you that’s not the whole story? What if the reality is far less glamorous than the glossy brochures suggest?

Sure, there are casinos. Sure, there are shows. Sure, there are buffets. But is that really all there is? Some say yes. Others say no. The truth may surprise you.

We went looking for answers. We asked questions. We stared at the lights. And what we found was… complicated. Did Las Vegas lie to us? Maybe. Did we pay the price? Absolutely.

The evidence is everywhere: long lines, expensive drinks, and hotel rooms that don’t always look like the photos online. And yet, people keep coming back. Why? Because Las Vegas is more than a destination. It’s a feeling. A promise. A mystery.

So, was it all a lie? Perhaps. Was the price worth paying? Only you can decide.

But don’t worry — you don’t have to fall for the same trap we did. Because while Vegas may have let us down, there’s another kind of excitement waiting for you… one that never lies.

Imagine waking up every morning to the sound of slot machines without the crowds. Picture yourself sipping a complimentary cocktail without the $18 price tag. That’s right: your very own Las Vegas Lifestyle™ Time‑Share Experience.

For less than the cost of one overpriced buffet, you can lock in a lifetime of neon‑lit memories. No more long lines, no more hotel rooms that don’t look like the photos — just pure, guaranteed fun.

And if you call in the next 15 minutes, we’ll throw in a bonus weekend in Laughlin — because why settle for one desert getaway when you can have two?

So ask yourself: was Vegas a lie? Maybe. But your future in a Las Vegas Lifestyle™ Time‑Share Experience is the truth you’ve been waiting for.

Regards,

My son in law just left Vegas Wednesday from a convention / tournament he was part of putting on. (He’s a manager at P&G, his side gig is working for Pokemon setting up and judging tournaments all around the world, he flew directly to Brazil to set one up there where he’s at now)

My daughter told me they agreed he was allowed $300 to gamble while at the casinos. He turned that $300 into $4000 one night and then suddenly he was put on a bet restrictions, he was only allowed to place a bet amount that the casino would approve and allow.

Don’t get me wrong in that the boy is damn bright, but certainly not Rain Man bright. I couldn’t believe they would limit someone for such a trivial amount of winnings but they did.

> The guy has a way to win at blackjack that’s not technically cheating, but the casinos in LV all banned him anyway. <

I’m guessing that was card-counting. It can be very lucrative when the casino is dealing from a single deck, and the pit bosses aren’t noticing how you are varying your bets.

But those days are pretty much gone. Casinos now often deal from six decks at once, and the pit bosses are paying attention.

And if a casino bans you (which they can, as its private property) they’ll secretly take your picture. That picture is shared with other casinos.

Side story: Back in my younger, foolish days I practiced card-counting for a month, then hit the blackjack tables at Atlantic City. It was great!

For the casinos, that is. I went home broke.

Agree 100%. I am also sick and tired of seeing these obvious clickbait posts. People posting these just for clicks are the lowest of the low.

What is clickbait about it?

All it reports is Las Vegas in 2025. You don't have to see the video, if you don't want to.

Also I am not affiliated with the author of the video.

I just thought it was interesting, burn me at the stake.

The video raises some solid points. During my last seven-week road trip across the USA, I drove straight through Vegas without stopping. It doesn’t have the same appeal anymore; it feels more like a money trap. People are catching on, and that’s why Vegas is struggling.

Not card-counting.....he has a very complex system for predicting what cards will be dealt and when.

He got kicked out of the casinos so he started changing his appearance. Hair dye, wigs etc....that worked for a while but the casinos caught on, so he bought a motor home and traveled around the country hitting casinos all over.

A lot of the bigger casinos actually circulated a BOLO with his picture on it.

Security at some casinos refused to even let him in the door......it was a trip.

Highly recommend watching it.

“it feels more like a money trap.”
-

It’s ALWAYS been a money trap my friend.

Idiot deniro at the beginning of the movie “Casino” in refering to casinos states “We are here for one reason.....to take your money”
-
Nothing could be more true.

Ya know, when I see a post I don’t think I’m gonna like I just move on......but hey, that’s just me.

Yeah, but if you do that or choose a civil recourse, like sending a private message, then you're missing out on the chance to stir up drama or to come across as an insufferable ass...

You were able to determine all that while speeding through it?

I once flew over Disneyland at 20,000 ft, and could tell that it no longer provides an authentic, family-oriented experience!

> Apparently if the hotel catches you storing your own items in your hotel room mini fridge they fine you......WHAT?!

hahaha yeah and they sell those rooms to aggregators - you pick one up at a discount rate and end up sorting out a slew of charges. Stay an extra night and you’ll really get burned.

I stayed at some trendy Vegas fashion palace across from the Bellagio for $225/night (work trip) and noticed the maximum room rate on the door sign was $26400...don’t stay an extra night at those places.

It's more than an interesting video. People should pay attention to Las Vegas in particular.

Many of these cities' economies were/are propped up by money laundering. As money laundering is cracked down on, the falsehoods collapse, and the true sustainability of the city shows.

The money laundering doesn't stop - it just switches to other cities, now more often in other countries.

As for the sarcasm, yes, no one forced anyone to click on a thread that absolutely belongs on Free Republic.
