Last thing. Donald Trump is still under the impression that works get you into Heaven. In more than one interview of late he has made that abundantly clear. Humbly going so far as to say, both seriously and in jest, that he’s not sure he will even get there.

None of that means that he doesn’t have a relationship with God, or that God isn’t using him for the good of the church, etc… - but it is clear that he, as a person, still hasn’t trusted in Christ alone for salvation and does not confess the Gospel for himself as of yet.

But he posted his deeply personal comments to Massie publicly- and is accountable for the words be speaks, not just to God, but to the public. People have a right to rebuke and correct him. Both in government and in the church, the people are called to hold their leaders accountable.

Oh! Well I wasn’t correcting anything you inferred - though I suppose Trump’s comment is directed at Massie’s wife in that it suggests she had poor judge of character in marrying him!

Anyway *the context* is everything too. The president didn’t post something like this the numerous *other* times Massie has frustrated him. (By the way I am no Massie fangirl myself. He has indeed been frustrating!)

But: Trump is saying all this against the backdrop of his refusal to release the Epstein Files — which, even just from the evidence that’s been released, testifies to quite the litany of *unfaithful* married men.

And we can speculate, maybe Trump himself is trying to protect the marriages of his peers and associates by withholding…

I know. It was classless, petty, and completely beneath the Dignity of his office. And he's done stuff like this countless times before. He deserves every bit of the public criticism he's getting for it

I guess my point is that none of us really know about Trump's relationship with God except for him and the Lord. I backslide all the time too. Not as publicly As Trump, but would be lost without the Lord's grace to let me try again.

There is a difference between backsliding, and not being saved.

Even good, solid, otherwise morally upright people (perhaps even more upright than most Christians!) might not be saved because they haven’t trusted in Christ alone.

Trump himself has never testified to the Gospel the way say Rubio or Hegseth have. It’s not that Rubio and Hegseth are better people, but you can tell by “the word of their testimony” that they have received Christ.

To the contrary, the president has made clear that he still believe it comes down to works and that he can’t be certain of his eternity. Multiple recent interviews. And his honesty should be appreciated!
