We better have some serious legislation ready, such as voter ID, if we do it.

Ending the fillibuster now is the only way to end the current shutdown, enact election reform, and codify Trump’s executive orders into law. Keeping the filibuster will not protect America if the current Democratic party regains power — they will eliminate it in the blink of an eye if it serves their interests. If MAGA can’t win honest elections and needs the filibuster to survive, it’s dead anyway.

If they do it, they need to immediately repeal commie care.

Good idea to end filibuster? I guess that goes to the reason why it was initiated to begin with. I don’t think it was always in existence.

It’s a terrible idea, and it’s exactly what the democrats want the republicans to do. The filibuster is about the only thing that prevented them from making America virtually full-blown communist early in Biden’s term!

Just think of the things the Dems were stopped from doing over the Clinton, Obama and Biden years because of the filibuster when you form your opinion.

No! And this is now probably the war cry of democrats refusing to fund the government. President Trump is giving them a new reason to hunker down. The democrat wins on Tuesday most likely has emboldened them as well. God help us all!

Those days are over. We have already ended the filibuster to get judges and administrators confirmed, and the Democrsts will finish the job to get their policies enacted.

They would have to amend the Constitution to pass statehood for DC. Won’t happen. PR is a different though.

If it is eliminated

How could it then be reestablished?

Bad idea. Get rid of it and when the Dems take over, and they will...

The next time the Democrats get a majority in the Senate, they will eliminate the filibuster as their first order of business. It does not matter what the Republicans do. The Democrats will not extend any courtesies to the Republicans.

The system has become: "winner take all". Being nice to the Democrats in expectation that they will return that behavior is a fools' game.

We had best follow the modified "Golden Rule": "Do unto others before they do unto you".

I do not feel encouraged to know that standard practice for Congressional progress is log-jamming. What is it called besides “filibuster”, “prohibited progress”?
