Dashcam and security cams. Not unusual at all.
“Stupid” is fixating on a simple mis-statement by a non-tech person. It’s been corrected, now how about adding something useful to the discussion? Eh?
A gallon is a unit of distance. Certainly you have heard people say, "It took two gallons to get to the hospital."
Furthermore, time is a unit of measure of distance. “It takes 15 minutes to get to the store.”
it was not corrected , so STFU eh ?
Fuel boarded/onboard is NOT recorded as gallons .
It is recorded as lbs. for takeoff/inflight/landing calculations.
OTOH, apparently the media has not corrected it. Maybe you should drop them a note.
For my part (engineering background / career), I expect these mistakes from non-tech people. Roll with it, and politely correct. Until it’s NASA confusing metric for English measurements, anyway!
Jet fuel is measured by weight due to temperature variation...volume changes w/temp...jet engines burn it by mass (lbs. per hour, unlike small piston GA aircraft which typically refer to gallons per hour since they don’t experience temp variation like pax jets at 35K feet).

His suggestion that fuel is commonly referred to by weight and not volume is what is absurd. How many people do you know fuel their vehicles, lawnmowers, tools, or gas cans with “pounds” of fuel rather than reference to gallons, liters, etc.? I said it was an understandable error for non-aviation folks to have said “gallons” in reference to fuel rather than its weight because that most people think of in reference to fuel...which is irrefutably correct.
Yet he claims fuel is not referred to by most as gallons, etc. but by how much it weighs and that I am “stupid” and “don’t know what (I’m) talking about” for suggesting otherwise. So either he does not know that gallons is not a measure of weight, or wherever he lives he goes to the local gas station and fills his car up by the pound...or he’s completely misinterpreting what I wrote altogether.
It was corrected HERE. Like I suggested, if this just burns you up, contact the people who made the mistake.
Ah, I learned something there! I did not know piston (GA) aircraft went by fuel volume instead of weight. That, however, makes the mistake in the early reports more understandable — lots of people have “contact” with some aspects of GA, know GA pilots, etc.
You are a total dumas when it comes to aviation
Okay, so what are we are even arguing about? That is not at all at odds with anything I said.
I wasn't saying in the aviation world fuel is not more commonly referred to by weight. Never did I argue that. What I said was the misspeaking by the reporters, emergency responders, politicians, etc. that were the subject of the discussion I was engaging in was understandable because in most instances fuel is more commonly referred to by its volume (gallons) rather than its weight (pounds). Firemen don't fill up their trucks with "pounds" of fuel, news reporters, politicians, etc. don't fill their cars, lawnmowers, tools, gas cans, etc. with "pounds" of fuel. Most people have never referred to fuel in terms of weight...it is not common terminology to most.
Actually you are when it comes to reading comprehension since that comment wasn't even about aviation.
I’m wondering how much of what was at that recycling facility. Thank God the plane didn’t hit a major fuel terminal - we have one with much larger storage tanks (probably around 1/4+ million gallons each) literally 10’s of feet away from a major highway in a downtown area, in a town about 1/2 hour from me. Yeesh! :-(
MY real concern now is for people on the ground, and families and friends of anyone hurt.. And, soon enough, cause of the crash. :-(
Yeah the mayor misspoke...not a huge deal he is not a pilot/expert (pounds vs gallons). Everyone calm down and say a prayer for the crew and those on the ground that were affected. (And remember if you fill your vehicle at the cool part of the day you get more gas for your $$...new fangled gas pumps do have “temp comp”):

yeah...because that blaze hit open businesses with customers and adjacent streets, parking lots, buildings at UPS, etc.
You are still a Clown
Your post 122 chided me for “ a simple mis-statement by a non-tech person” by which I assumed you meant by Wildcat Republican.
Was that incorrect? It certainly wasn’t clear..
