Z is most certainly madder than a wet hen.

He’s looking for a way to change the game.

He might come up with something.

It's a waste of time proposing a freeze of the conflict.

Russia will not and should not agree to it. Nor will it agree to a NATO presence in Ukraine.

Cutting off Ukraine completely will stop the bloodshed and save Ukrainian territory.

There’s a time for war and a time for peace. Now is the time for peace.

Trump is a smart cookie.

Stop where you are means a flood of EU troops into western Ukraine. It looks like Ukraine is accepting loss of territory.

But he also gets Tulsi Gabbard in his ear telling him how the populace will flee the cold in about 6 weeks and the loss of territory will avalanche.

What we have now is a weekend for the EU creatures to jump for their telephones and reassure Zelensky of this or that and then talk to each other and reassure each other of this or that — and very quietly arrange so that the flood of Ukrainians about to arrive exiting the cold will somehow not be allowed to stay. They’ll be sent to Austria or other places out of the news.

Vance:

“I think there’s a fundamental misalignment of expectations, where the Russians tend to think that they’re doing better on the battlefield than they actually are.”

He wants ‘I ended the Russia/ Ukraine war’ on his resume. The details aren’t important.

From Ukraine can win back all of the former Ukraine plus more to keep the lines as they are. Heck why not demand Ukraine to gift a few bonus territories too that Russia did not claim.

No, it does not.

Those pussies wouldn’t go if Russia agreed to not shoot them.

Zelenskyy is prohibited by his own Constitution from agreeing to concession of lands to Russia. Does Trump understand that?

It MIGHT be possible to get a cease fire, but, as we see from Pooty tools here in this thread, elements in Russia do not want any such cease fire, and there is at present no freaking way to enforce one anyway. That last is particularly true since Russia won’t agree to a force in Ukraine that the Ukies could possibly agree to, to enforce a cease fire.

So, despite Trump’s efforts, the war will go on, with a good part of Russia’s effort directed once again at Ukrainian energy supplies, particularly their electrical grid, and Ukraine smacking Russian refineries.

Russia would on the face of it seem to have the advantage. However, Ukraine has nearly 4 years’ experience in absorbing hits on their grid — which attacks violate the Geneva Conventions, in case anyone cares, and more important, in that time has developed a very well dispersed and diffuse backup consisting of hundreds of thousands of small generators. These are fueled by an equally diffuse network supplying fuel to the generators from sources Pooty can’t hit: Bordering NATO countries. There is also some local energy sourcing from solar panels, biofuels, etc.

This energy sourcing is of course not EFFICIENT, but with the West easily footing most of the bill (also with help from Japan, etc.), efficiency is not a major concern.

This is highly problematic for Russia: Even using relatively cheap drones, it is not economically practical to take out hundreds of thousands of small generators and that diffuse supply network. Never mind that if Russia tries anyway, they’ll likely kill 10’s if not 100’s of thousands of Ukie civilians in the process. What a propaganda nightmare that would be.

Meantime, Ukraine continues its ramping up of successful attacks on Russia’s energy system, particularly its refineries. Russia is highly dependent on those refineries, while Ukraine gets by without any working refineries at all. Therein lies Ukraine’s advantage.

I don’t think Putin will accept anything but total victory.

Those pussies wouldn’t go if Russia agreed to not shoot them.

That's too broad a generalization. SOME troops from EU countries are quite good, and certainly not "pussies". However, their numbers are limited.

SOME Euro leaders are also not pussies, but, all of them, pussies or no, do understand that going against their general population(s) can get them tossed out in pretty short order, and someone less inclined to aid Ukraine is likely to succeed them.

The real problem lies in the general populations. In many EU countries, esp. those more removed from the war by distance, and those most influenced by Putin's propagandist army, the popular support for sending troops is really "not there".

This is not unlike sentiment in the USA, where support for sending US troops as part of an active peacekeeping force is very low. But, here is an interesting question:

I'm not worried about US troops. If ordered to go to Ukraine as peacekeepers, they will go. However, I suspect we all know which FReepers would object the most strenuously to sending US troops to Ukraine as peacekeepers, regardless of what justification President Trump stated. Do you consider those FReepers "pussies"?

They’re not going to. Who’s going to make them? What’s your idea?

I don’t think Putin will accept anything but total victory.

I think it (Russia's results) would have to be pretty close to that.

Otherwise, how can Putin justify the horrendous cost?

It's pretty clear though, that Trump, and no likely US President, will accept a "pretty close to" Russian "total victory". Moreover, that cost I allude to doesn't even consider the baggage that comes along, including a doubling of NATO's direct border with Russia (and Norway driven firmly into the alliance -- Norway is no Hungary), holding Ukraine and suppressing partisans (a giant version of Israel and the Palis?), hostility of the Euro's vs. a comfortable and very profitable business relationship, and more important, a ramping up of Euro-NATO countries' defense spending that near triples their expenditures. Worst of all for Russia, Russia's been driven into China's arms. Given the direction China has taken under Xi, that's not merely like Eve eating the apple, it's like marrying Satan himself.

Igor Girkin seems to understand some of these things, but even he, IMO, doesn't fully "get it". Yet.
