My interpretation of the video is the trucker saw Baldwin trying to pass illegally on the right, drifted over to say “FU, no way @$$hole” and casually forced their car into a tree. The very definition of FAFO. Hope the tree is okay.

He would’ve been better off just telling the truth. He could have said “Yup, I was in a hurry, tried to go around the truck and hit the tree. I screwed up.” Is that so hard to do?

But, why did the truck driver pull over in first place? Didn't see any trash cans to pick up.The truck driver saw a Range Rover in his side view mirror coming at him down the road like a cruise missile and tried to get out of the way.
That is why Baldwin said the truck cut him off. The knucklehead was attempting to pass on the shoulder of the road at 20 miles a minute.

It looks like Baldwin was trying to pass the truck on the right. I'd suspect he was driving too fast, didn't realize the truck was slowing, and swerved around the truck on the right. Better that then swerve left into oncoming traffic.
People may not like Alec Baldwin, but while he may have messed up by driving too fast and too close, swerving to the right instead of left and into head-on traffic was the correct call.

Baldwin just impugned the livelihood of the truck driver with his lie. Just like he took the life of the woman he shot. Law does not apply to him.
