Davis, who was born with “a vagina but no ovaries, uterus or fallopian tubes” as well as “XY chromosomes and internal, undescended testes,” said she is concerned about having to lie to her students about sexuality.

In Davis' case, there is true sexual ambiguity. People like that in times past lived full lives as women (minus child bearing) knowing that something was wrong due to lack of menses. If you combine it with androgen insensitivity it would be very difficult to be considered male.

So, yes it is real. But if the teacher were born with one eye (also a real thing), we wouldn't expect the students to be taught that a man is a rational biped with one or two eyes. Davis has a biological irregularity, and should acknowledge that, rather than normalize it.

With XY chromosomes, only, yet, he never had a penis, but had the super-immature, non-differentiated “female” vagina, even some doctors would have likely thought it was a girl.
