I had some surgery during the “pandemic”. I was in the hospital for a week. On the last night of my stay, they suddenly moved me. They told me what floor they were taking me to, but I saw the room numbers, and they didn’t match the floor they told me I would be in. I said, “Isn’t this the COVID ward”.
They said that was the only available room. The hospital had about 20% occupancy.
In the middle of the night, the plumbing in my bathroom began gushing water into my room and into the hall. The maintenance men refused to come in, saying they would not go in unless they were given the same protective suits the doctors wear when they go in with a COVID patient.
I told this story to my PCP. He said the reason they moved me into the COVID ward was so they could claim I was a COVID patient and collect big bucks from the federal government.

Re Hospitalized during COVID:
That is chilling. You could have been infected and put on a respirator! I’d call it malpractice.
I had a colonoscopy yesterday. Due to the prep, I am now full of PEG. Despite a strong family history, and removing a tiny polyp, I was told this could be my last colonoscopy. Why? Because the PEG will kill me first? Because I’m too old to bother saving?
My doctor stood outside the opening of the intake and recovery rooms and didn’t even come inside as he “welcomed me” and then later told me the results.
I can’t wait for my own AI robot who will monitor my heath personally and have more bedside manner! Our medical system is broken.
That’s horrible. But not surprising.
had to look it up
Polyethylene Glycol (PEG): A compound used in medicine as a laxative to treat constipation and in other products like ointments. It is a versatile chemical used in many industries and found in many products.
17 for me, all but 2, 5, 6.
Many beautiful and fun cities on that list. I’ve been lucky enough to have been to 12 of those cities, six of them multiple times (Orlando 7 times, New Orleans 5, Las Vegas 5, Philadelphia 3, Washington 2, NYC 2). Once only for Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Nashville and San Antonio. I could attend the National Bridge Championships in San Francisco in a month but I’m passing because of drug addicts, homeless beggars, general lawlessness and the necessity for sh*t maps. I’ll wait for it to be cleaned up first, maybe even by President Trump.
AI Overview
The FDA has issued multiple warnings and alerts concerning products containing polyethylene glycol (PEG), primarily related to hypersensitivity reactions, risks for certain patients, and potential neurobehavioral issues in children.
Hypersensitivity and anaphylaxis
Intravenous products: In 2021, the FDA warned that ultrasound-enhancing agents containing PEG should not be given to patients with known hypersensitivity to PEG. This followed reports of immediate hypersensitivity reactions, including anaphylaxis (a severe, life-threatening allergic reaction).
Compounded curcumin: In 2017, the FDA investigated two serious adverse events, including one death, associated with a compounded intravenous curcumin emulsion that contained PEG. The investigation found that the pharmacy used an ungraded, non-pharmaceutical-grade PEG 40 castor oil, which contained toxic diethylene glycol (DEG) and lacked warnings about hypersensitivity reactions.
Pediatric and neurobehavioral risks
Neuropsychiatric symptoms: Beginning in 2009, the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System received reports of neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as seizures, tremors, and obsessive-compulsive behaviors, in children taking PEG 3350 laxatives like MiraLAX.
Study initiated: Due to parental petitions and these reports, the FDA awarded a grant in 2015 for a study to determine if the use of PEG is linked to psychiatric problems in children.
Labeling changes: In 1999, the FDA approved MiraLAX with a warning against use by children, but the label was later changed to “Children 16 years of age or younger: ask a doctor,” which is less restrictive. Concerns have been raised about the manufacturer’s knowledge of potential pediatric risks.
Risks with laxative use
For osmotic laxatives containing PEG, such as those used for colonoscopy prep, the FDA has issued warnings about serious side effects, including:
Fluid and electrolyte imbalance: These can cause serious issues, including cardiac arrhythmias, seizures, and kidney problems. Patients, especially those with pre-existing heart or kidney conditions, should ensure adequate hydration.
Cardiac arrhythmias: Patients with a history of prolonged QT interval, arrhythmias, or other heart conditions are at increased risk.
Seizures: There have been reports of seizures linked to electrolyte abnormalities caused by bowel preparations.
Colonic mucosal ulceration and ischemic colitis: Osmotic laxatives can cause ulcerations, particularly with concurrent use of stimulant laxatives.
Aspiration: The products should be used with caution in patients with an impaired gag reflex.
Hypersensitivity: Like with IV products, PEG can cause serious allergic reactions.
Contaminant concerns
Manufacturing impurities: Polyethylene glycol’s precursor is hazardous, and contaminants like ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane can appear in PEG if the manufacturing process is not carefully controlled. The 2017 curcumin case highlights this risk, as the use of an ungraded PEG resulted in toxic diethylene glycol contamination
