“The “Wow! Signal” was detected on August 15, 1977”

The day before Elvis died. Coincidence?

Earth has travelled ~300 AU (2 × 3.14 x 48) around the Sun since ‘77.

Being off by 4 degrees, millions of miles away, and 48 years ago….is a long distance to be off by.

So the answer is “no.”

I’ve my own deep imagination and cosmology/astrophysics might have been one of my alternate callings had things been different. The theoretical aspect - a complex word for what others refer to as ‘tin hat’ etc. which I apply heavily to yours truly - goes hand in hand with the unknown.

That stated, there are some things you don’t do as a professional...hence my ‘smh’.

To be clear: I’m not totally dismissive, merely astonished that he didn’t have someone point a radio telescope at the thing before going public with his, well...’musings’.

Seems like tabloid sensationism crap to me, but if the wow signal came from the same location as where the atlas comet was supposed to be, and it’s not a coincidence, then the fact that the comet is now radio silent is a problem to me.

I’m speaking in theory, because again, I don’t buy this bunk, but the above would suggest the radio signal had a purpose other than just saying “hello world”. It was probably more functional in nature.

“Avi’s way of making astronomy interesting and fun.”

I think they dug through the tunnels underneath Harvard and found Timothy Leary’s old LSD stash.

Lol.

Astronomers get to be off by millions of miles and still keep their job.

Surveyors can be off by an inch and lose their job.

Life is unfair!

Thing is most likely is…a large rock
