You ever been over there? I am aways interested in talking to vets who have, it warms my heart to see reconcilation, much as there was between many soldiers from both the North and the South in the Civil War.

I will say that I have heard the Vietnamese are very friendly towards Americans, and there is that. I can’t say I know huge amount about their specific economy, but hey, the ChiComs have been raising some serious cash for decades, but it isn’t about the money for many who feel as I do.

And it isn’t a legacy of the Vietnam war, either. I am gratified to see veterans treated with respect over there, and what appears to be a significant degree of mutual good will, from what I have been told by vets who have gone over there. So my dislike for their government doesn’t stem from that.

But it does stem from the the fact that they have a government that can, at the drop of at hat and no pushback or impedance, erase 86 million bank accounts.

Our founders knew it, and many of us do as now well thanks to the likes of F.A. Hayek in his work “The Road to Serfdom’ where he described how personal freedom and financial freedom are inextricably intertwined...can’t have one without the other.

We have seen what a government with that kind of power over financial freedoms will absolutely do to to the personal freedoms of its citizens.

History is painted red with those kinds of governments.

Not saying “it can’t happen here” because it most certainly can. It is just harder for them if you are aware. Granted, we haven’t been “aware” for many years, but...it is never too late to stop digging a hole you are in.

“You ever been over there? “

Several times. My wife is Vietnamese. I met her in California in 2000.
