The people who live in cities with Middle Eastern stores can always buy cheap, bulk, loose tea in them, along with a lot of other nice deals, such as cheap but good, bulk bean coffee, and lots of pickled products, along with some interesting canned products.
“Good thought I always see what Mexico does before I do something.”
Our national legislature would disgrace a banana republic.

I used to live in Houston in an area that was close to an Asian center of grocery stores. Fresh seafood and cheap produce and other items was always within a three-minute drive from my house. Looking back, those really were the good ole days. But I keep getting the niggling thought... that ‘these’ are the good ole days and I need to enjoy and make the most of the “now” while it lasts.
Well, support the welfare deadbeats and cheats with your own money.
The government should not even be in the charity business in the first place.
Government restrictions on other’s money that they hand out is not unreasonable.
Besides, if you want to get technical, any laws that exist are *government “restrictions”* on us.
So you’re in favor of anarchy, rape, murder, theft, etc. to be fine and not restricted by the government? Just allow people to do whatever they want, period, full stop?
I agree, but it was just a novel thought.
Like what *realities*?
There's a good chance there's something in 'that peachy smell' your brain is going 'want it want it want it' over... and it's not in the ones without that peachy smell. (I have that one about peaches too) Enjoy the nectarine and trusting your body's instincts. :)
Thanks
Allowing food stamps and EBT to buy almost anything in the store has always been a terrible idea. It makes people want to stay on food assistance as long as possible, even permanently.
Yeah, watch it. Don't throw that four letter word LOVE around like that.
If people will buy healthy food, stores will sell it. Chinatowns across the country sell low-cost veggies, meat, fish, etc.
The variety of people who are on food stamps, do you really think apartment dwelling single moms and senior citizens, and handicapped people can raise their own food?
Have you ever seen an elderly person who has lost interest in most foods and couldn’t live on beans and rice but who does live on cheese whiz and crackers, and muffins, and whatever else keeps them alive? How about a mom of three with little kids who works but makes little, is she going to be able to make them eat their beans and rice everyday?
There are handicapped people and elderly people who are on food stamps for the rest of their lives, the old rice, beans, and flour routine wouldn’t work very well for them, simple, angry, one size fits all suggestions aren’t very practical in the reality of the world’s 3rd most populated nation.
And government stores?
“””” It makes people want to stay on food assistance as long as possible, even permanently.””””
You fix that by enforcing requirements, the voters and then the administrators decide eligibility.
“”Well, support the welfare deadbeats and cheats with your own money.

What about the senior citizens, the elderly, that have worked most of their lives but fall into poverty, relying on food stamps, through no fault of their own.... like due to an illness (most people will fall ill as they age)? Some of them are even “righties” and Christians. It sounds like you’re ok with just cutting those folks off from EBT, since you’re calling them “deadbeats” by lumping them in. Not... very... Christian. I’m astounded. Truly.
“”So you’re in favor of anarchy, rape, murder, theft, etc. to be fine and not restricted by the government? Just allow people to do whatever they want, period, full stop?””
Now you’re just being ridiculous. Comparing my stance on government restrictions on SNAP items to that? I’m disappointed. Thought better of you.
>>> All people who pay for their own food get to choose. <<<
For now. You think the government will stop here? They’re going to tell people who are on EBT what they can/can’t eat and most people will applaud.
Once CBDC is fully operational watch how fast they control what you eat. Then you’ll look back and realize this was their trial run

Exactly. I am stunned by the lack of Christian attitude by some of these posters. Some that consider themselves to be Christians, yet sound like anything ‘but’ on this issue.
I’m with you. Hate the argument that healthy food is too expensive. The junk is usually much more expensive.
For some, they are excellent on a thread that is specifically a “Christian” thread, a religious thread, but when it isn’t, then the Christian influence doesn’t show up so much, and sometimes doesn’t show at all.
First off, I didn’t say I approved of government stores or advocated them. It was just a novel thought that occurred to me.
Honestly sometimes FReepers are to quick to jump to the worst conclusions about others.
As for those who truly need it, such as elderly who have lost interest in food, they need more than just being handed food stamps. They need serious help, as do those who are legitimately disabled. But those situations are not being dealt with adequately either.
From living in a welfare town for 18 L-O-N-G years, I saw zero to none who fell into those categories. It was all welfare deadbeats with terrible entitlement mentalities as they milked the entire system dry for every penny they could get out of it, while they lazed around the house and did drugs, drank, ordered out fast for to be delivered, had cell phones, nice TV’s and a huge selection of videos and gaming stuff, while they not only got food, but also rent, and heat paid for.
That doesn’t mean we shouldn’t help those who legitimately need it, but but those are precious few, and even those don’t need junk food. They need real food.
Besides, where are their families and what about a church’s responsibility to help the poor and truly needy.
Heck even in those days, community help was restricted to those widows were truly alone and had no family to help them at all.

You mean.... like you just did.... in this very thread with this comment to me?
“So you’re in favor of anarchy, rape, murder, theft, etc. to be fine and not restricted by the government? Just allow people to do whatever they want, period, full stop?”
